Fortunately, for me, I like that.

I'm trying to come up with a logo for my station that would look good on a bumper sticker. In fact, if anyone has decent photoshop skills around here, I'd be willing to pay for something that I would use. Ultimately all my registered domain names would funnel / forwarded to either www.salemfm.com or www.salem.fm - but it will be interesting, to me, to see which marketed domain name gets hit the most. Which domain name appeals to whom, etc.?

I would like to incorporate this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Head_test_card

with this - http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/jukebox/colobar.gif

...but I am open to any new ideas too. I've even liked the thought of having a round logo / button type sticker too.

Here are my domain names that I own that may get something going creatively for you.

How about replacing the Indian's face with Potsie's?

Or adding a Potsie face and/or the Kraken to each color bar?

(Whatever you end up with, can I buy a sticker and a Tee?)

Just for you:

Oh. Yeah. Charging for stuff. I forgot about that.

I'd better revisit my business plan.

But to answer your question; No. YOU cannot buy anything. Your money is no good here.

That first link you posted had tons of scenes from "Mysterious Island". One of my favorites from many many moons ago. Love that movie.

FOUL I CALL FOUL. DEE-SCRIM-INATION!!! By golly Merkie's money is just as good as anyone elses, In fact, I dare say it's better since she prints her own on hand woven saw grass paper, with ink made from arrowroot, deer blood and blueberries, and a secret ingredient to fool convienence store marking pens....

(treasury department, please disregard this post)

The Indian head test pattern is detail rich (it's supposed to be) and would not be able to carry much over in the way of detail when put on a bumper sticker which is even smaller than the average TV tube screen for which it was designed, not to mention the fact that when viewed from 15 feet back would barely be recognizable.

The smpte color bars make a poor background for a logo. I've tried using it before, and because of bumper sticker size and distance to the reader, putting alpha-numerics on the color bars requires heavy drop shadow and large font size just to be seen.
Except for a short message encompassing the whole bumper sticker, it's a tough road to hoe.

Now for stationery and blogging/web use, that's another story.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Fun story about the orig Indian head artwork as rescued from a dumpster:

http://www.pharis-video.com/p4788.htm

So is there perhaps a copyright issue now if you use this old pattern?

I don't know. I did wonder about that though. Fortunately, my plan is to alter it enough so that it significantly becomes a different test pattern.

Andy, you are right on just about all counts. Window decals may work and certainly T Shirts. But I like how you explained all of that to me. You probably saved me a lot of headache. May I ask what it is that you do? I'm mush less worried about merchandising than I am the actual product. I have my priorities straight, I believe. But I was taking a break from the programming theory applications and formulas and show prep and blah blah blah.

Dude, you've got to make some cool T-shirts. Use one of those services or something that sells and prints on demand.

I seriously want one.

*please, for Mrs M.*

I'll do some playing with this stuff tonight. I have a bit of fun time.

"May I ask what it is that you do?"

These days CJ I do whatever comes my way ... although I consider myself a multimedia technology specialist, I have also been involved with consumer electronics manufacturers and broadcast engineering services since going solo in 1995 after twenty years in broadcast engineering and production.

Here's my ad on craigslist:

Here's my woefully in need of an update website:

Let me know if you need any help.
