What do YOU think is Better, Coke or pepsi and why??

I like Coke better, its got a richer, stronger flavor. Pepsi tastes flat to me.

Pepsi is too sugary. Diet Pepsi dispensed from a soda fountain is just "ok." Diet Coke in cans is where its at! :-)

For a real treat, and the old-fashioned Coke taste, try Costco for Mexican Coke in 12-ounce bottles. They sell it by the case.

It uses real cane sugar, and not high fructose corn syrup.

It tastes just like it did when I was a kid...and that goes way back.

***Brief diversion from Pepsi/Coke...

I've found that in some places in the south you can get Dr. Pepper made from cane sugar too.
Much better!

I find that Pepsi is really great on occasion but if I have it all the time, it gets tiring. Coke doesn't do that. It's good all the time. Also, in a restaurant or bar, when they have to mix it and it isn't just right, you stand a much better chance of getting a good or at least acceptable Coke whereas Pepsi might come out bad tasting and RC could be nearly intolerable! This situation doesn't seem to exist in fast food places.

TAB no really TAB rules!

Can't stand diet Coke but Coke Zero is awesome. Diet Pepsi is the better diet cola. But Pepsi's version of Coke Zero sucks donkey balls.

Mexican coke is really the best though. Mexican pepsi again sucks donkey balls.

When it all comes down to it though I prefer pepsi to coke but will drink either.

I haven't tasted a Pepsi or Coke in at least 20 years. But in my heyday of pizza and beer or soda it was usually a Coke if I were to choose between the two. Even back in those days I was more of a root beer guy anyway.

These days it’s water, non-dairy or organic fruit juices. Our kids don’t drink Coke or Pepsi. Actually they don’t drink any soft drinks at all because of all the junk in them.

Mexican Coke, YUCK!! i guess Im not used to drinking soda with real sugar cane in it. I actually went to Costco and bought a huge case of that Mexican Coke. After drinking one bottle of it, I have not yet had another. YUCK! So now I have a whole case going to waste. (Maybe I'll sell it on E-bay!)
I'm sticking to regular coke from now on.

The cane sugar in the Mexican Coke has got to be part of the appeal, but I think soft drinks just generally taste better out of glass bottles.

I've noticed a few of the Coke commercials on television have the people drinking Coke from glass bottles. Wonder why they do that, when it is generally not available in glass in the US? (Except for those small 8 oz bottles)

Diet Pepsi!

But I'm not 100% faithful, Coke Zero is good!

Quick Hijack:

The SUGAR FREE Margarita mix at Target is muy bueno!

Also, I was reading about the Oreos at Mexican groceries: No high-fructose corn syrup in them, and I think real vanilla or flavorings? If Canada and Mexico don't use HFCS why do we? That stuff is the juice of death.

You will hardly ever see me with out a diet Coke within arms reach!

That being said, Jones Soda's Diet Black Cherry is AWESOME!

I'd almost give up my diet Coke for it!

I drink WAY too much of it. A 30 pack case from Costco lasts me less than a week and that doesn't include the 2 for $2.50 1 liter bottles that I go through!

Pop Shoppe Pop was an absolute iconic staple in our home. Having a crate of that made me feel rich. Sharing it with other kids made me feel like a King!...and this was just a couple weeks ago.

Crush Cream Soda is the absolute best, if it's in the bottle. I'll have to see if it can still be had online. Used to ride miles to an old store that carried it, damn near frozen, in the bottle for $0.50, or something like that.

Nirvana.

I tried one of the mexi-Cokes. Man, it's true! I had forgotten cane sugar tastes. I don't think it's all about the bottle, though there is something really great about the ice cold bottle.

Kind of off topic, but I think a similar thing happened with candy in the late 70's. Don't know if it's cane / corn sugar, but there was something very artificial about the flavors that changed in the formulation of a lot of newer candies.

Over time, some of the old-school ones caught that fever too. Yuck.

Coke. Always Coke.

I like the Mexican Coke, and all the other sodas made with cane sugar. We sell "Boylan's" and it's great! You know you're drinking orange, beacause it tastes like orange, not because it's orange in color. And, no nasty aftertaste.

In the South, we drank "Meller Yeller" and also "Cherrywine": red/brown stuff, very sweet.

We used to love going to Pop Shoppe and mixing our own cases...great fun! Might still have one or two of those crates in the barn.

JOLT COLA "All the sugar and twice the caffeine"

Jolt Cola was a key element in my all-nighter writing of term papers back at U of O in the '80s. I could tell you to the minute how long the sugar-and-caffeine boost lasted (45 min.). Then it's time to crack open another. Two or three Jolts would get a paper written - and that was back in the pre-word processor days.

This is awesome! My mom made these last weekend -the recipe was in the "O". TDF!

COCA-COLA-GLAZED BABY BACK RIBS

Serves 4 (about 20 pieces).

Note: Virginia Willis notes that "Scotch bonnet peppers are intensely hot, but their fire is tempered by the sweetness of the sugar and Coke." She suggests that "to tone down the heat, substitute jalapeños instead." I used Scotch bonnets and chopped them with their seeds, which produced a sauce with plenty of heat. A second time I removed the seeds, then chopped the peppers; this yielded a sauce that was not as hot.

• 1 c. Coca-Cola Classic

• 1/4 c. apple cider vinegar

• 1 1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar

• 2 Scotch bonnet chiles (see Note)

• 2 racks baby back ribs (3 lb. total)

• Coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

To make the glaze, in a small saucepan, bring the Coca-Cola, vinegar, brown sugar and chiles to a boil over high heat; reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until syrupy, about 10 minutes or longer. Decrease the heat to low and keep the sauce warm while the ribs cook.

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Liberally season both sides of the ribs with salt and pepper.

Place the ribs on a broiler pan and bake for 30 minutes, glazing the ribs occasionally with the Coca-Cola mixture. Turn the ribs over and continue to cook for an additional 30 minutes or longer, glazing occasionally, until the ribs are tender and the meat is starting to pull away from the bone. (When baking the ribs in my oven, the baby backs needed an extra 25 to 30 minutes until tender.)

When the ribs are cooked through, set the oven to broil. Liberally spoon half of the remaining glaze over the ribs and broil until glazed a deep mahogany brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Turn over; repeat with the remaining glaze, an additional 5 to 7 minutes. Serve immediately with lots of napkins.

Oh the beauty of TAB it is indeed the greatest diet soda ever made. It is so refreshing anytime of day. And it packs a pretty decent caffeine punch to boot. Coke still makes it but I wonder why Coke doesn't market it anymore.

I want a TAB neon and or a TAB retro vending machine for my place.
