Check out at about the 50 second mark. Huckabee's speech is interrupted by some sounds offstage and he jokes (and I use the term usely), that it was Barack Obama falling off a chair because he had a gun aimed at him.

I listened in dismay at the remarks of Governor Huckabee and was taken not only with the inappropriateness of his remarks regarding Senator Obama, but his comments about the role of government in general. He speaks of smaller, less intrusive government but as we well know, this flies in the face of the modern Republican Party. Republicans have taken it upon themselves to play the role of “Morals’ Commissar”. Pretty soon, the GOP will want a video camera in every bedroom, watching the behaviors of the proletariat. This however might keep some Republican politicians from jumping into bed with someone other than their own wives, contrary to the behavior of many Republican politicians these days.

Then Huckabee goes on to remark about fiscal responsibility. But the simple truth is on this matter, the Bush administration’s record is abysmal when it comes to fiscal discipline. Record federal deficits – a painfully low dollar – out of sight gas prices – escalating food prices – out of control costs associated with the war in Iraq.

I’m sure if Mike Huckabee had won the nomination, his platform would have been a retread of George W. Bush’s 2004 effort, just like what we are hearing out of Senator McCain.

I'm a little hypersensitive to anything that smacks of an Obama assasination. I can let this one go and just call it " that was a stupid thing to say and I think it was unfunny on any level." without blowing out of proportion. Huckabee gets that one for free, from me. Any further " mistakes " like that though, and he should be taken down HARD.

Wow, what a gaffe. And his pause for 5 seconds after his comments was used for him to realize what a stupid comment he made.

C'mon people, Bad taste comments shouldn't ruffle feathers unless you're going bothways with outrage.... Many a comment wishing the demise of BOOSH and Cheney gets tossed out without similar outcry........

And the people that make comments about DUHbya being shot are asses too!

Let us not forget Dick Cheney shooting his friend in the face in Texas. Based on the amount of booze Cheney had been drinking that day, Cheney should have been brought up on charges of some sort, or at least a visit to rehab with required AA meetings to follow. But I guess if you’re a Republican, shooting one’s friend in the face while drunk is permissible.
