Looks like 97.1 ditched the Random request Hour with Charlie girl. Thats too bad, that was the best part of the station. Is Charlie Girl still employed?

after reading this I had to call and find out the scoop. Boy did I get an earfull. Charlie girl,( whom so many on this page love) apparently quit, walked off without a notice and didnt bother to call anyone or show up for her shift. She left her advertisers hanging without a word and she emailed the mgmt and co workers a one line message saying "it was fun" Now that is classy. I never thought she was a big deal that everyone talked about here, and hearing about how she burned a bridge at her station makes one think even less of her. It is sad when there are people out there that really want to work and you get someone pulling crap like that. I am sure they will give her a glowing reference at 97.1fm when she trys to get a job somewhere else.

Wasn't it mentioned elsewhere on this board that Entercom eliminated her full-time position (in promotions?) and brought her back in a part-time only capacity? Perhaps that's why she decided to leave the way she did.

" How would YOU like if you were de-moted to part time!!" Happens all the time. Given the choice of part-time or no-time, most would choose part-time.

If you can pick your job, then by all means Charlie girl should have left. I would have if all they did was give me part time work. I'd be looking for a full time gig the entire time I was doing fill in work. She made that station what it was in the afternoons. Perhaps someone else has or will pick her up and let her have free rain for an afternoon.

The only place to have free reign for an afternoon would be volunteering at KBOO, if even there.

My only point was, If you get demoted (which happens in all lines of work) you can either leave or take the new lower paying gig. If you choose to leave, do it the right way and give a notice-be professional. Don't throw a fit and walk out the door mid shift leaving others to clean up your mess. Any managers reading this post here would agree I bet, it sux to have someone walk without a heads up. BTW JT No i do not have a ft gig. If I got offered one I WOULD GIVE A NOTICE TO MY CURRENT BOSS AND NOT JUST THROW A HISSY FIT AND WALK like CG did. The more details I hear the more I think it was a weak move on her part.

Speaking of KBOO, you would think that with all the people who have volunteered there in the last 40 years that there would be a fair percentage who have moved on to a paying job in radio. Is there? I think there was someone at KGW, The Talk Station, who came from there but don't know of any others.

Not only did Charlie girl have an entertaining all request show, but she also did all the imaging on that station. Im curious what Entercom is going to do now. They need to get something going in the afternoon. The Jukebox radio can only last for so long. Best of Luck to Charlie Girl, I thought she was a great talent!

In other threads, it's been said that stations have the full right to fire an employee with no notice or reason, immediately walk them to the door and that's part of the business. Then some people bash Shel for apparently giving the station the same treatment. Sounds like a double-standard to me.
