This was published in today’s Washington Post:

“The president's 31 percent approval rating is the lowest of his career in Post-ABC polls, and represents the 38th consecutive month his approval rating has been under 50 percent. At the same time, the percentage of Americans with a gloomy outlook about the country in the new poll has jumped to within a point of its June 1992 high: 82 percent now think things in the United States have veered pretty seriously off on the wrong track”.

The poll results speak for itself. George W. Bush is the worst president in modern history -- and one of the worst in the history of the republic. How can anyone with a clear conscience defend the behavior of this lying tyrant? He and Dick Cheney should be rotting away in Leavenworth. Given the damage done by Bush/Cheney, it’ll take Barack Obama nearly his entire first term as president to being respectability back to the office of president.

Yes, and his disapproval rating is the highest in Gallup poll history.

Plus, Bush has a higher negative effect on McCain than Rev. Wright has on Obama as 38% of likely voters say McCain's association with Bush makes them less likely to vote for McCain, while 33% say Obama's association with Wright diminishes their likelihood of voting for Obama.

Bye bye Republican lies
Put a Texan in the Whitehouse
Now the coffers are dry
In Iraq a doctor sutures
while GOP ol boys are still buying corn and oil futures
Singing as long as it's not me that has to die.

No homeland attacks since 9/11.

Just a tad of sabre-rattling and it'll be a republican for 4 more years.

You do know that cuts both ways right?

Let's see. He's the absolute worst ever. That's on record in plenty of places to count.

Who is the only President to have allowed a terror attack on us?

You got it!

The Republican George W. Bush.

See how that works?

No homeland attacks since 9/11....under Bush's leadership, who happens to be a Republican.

Don't forget the second part of your statement Herb. Bush was president on 9/11. What does that say about Republicans protecting our homeland?

"Herb, remember we were attacked under Shrub's watch, not Clinton's."

Fair enough.

But Americans remember 9/11 and republicans are trusted far more on the matter of military self-defense. So don't get too self-confident. A day is a lifetime in politics and we haven't even yet begun to see Mr. Rove and his ilk back in action.

McCain-Huckabee 2008, or McCain-Keyes, with Mike Huckabee as the next pro-life Chief Supreme Court Justice, replacing the aclu-pandering, anti-life meanie, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

I'd go with Bork & Schlafly, but I want the next Supreme Court pro-lifers to be there a looooong time.

No they aren't.

That used to be the case. W fucked that all up. Now the Republican party leads on ZERO of the major issues.

Little games like this are why. People start to thinking, "hmmm... look at all of those scandals, corruption, secret meetings! We got attacked with these guys on watch, I wonder why?"

Secret is not secure. Corrupt is not secure. Wasteful is not secure. Cronyism is not secure.

Yeah we do remember 9/11 and we all know it happened while the Republicans were in charge. And not only did they let it happen, but they followed that cock up by exploiting it too boot!

It ain't pretty, which is exactly why the ratings are as LOW as they are.

These kinds of numbers don't happen for those doing a good job Herb.

Yeah, Rove in action.

Guess what I read today? The McCain campaign is BRAGGING about how huge they are going to swiftboat Obama! Organizing groups like no other.

Seems to me they really should be working on the issues themselves, not trying to marginalize the guy that actually is working on them.

The only way the Republicans are going to get anything is by dirty tricks, lies, manipulations, money and other things that don't do us any good at all.

Republicans won't be winning elections on their merits, nor will they be winning on their record for the last 7.5 years.

Obama is kicking ass on the issues with what looks to be a majority of voters. Do we get a Republican -vs- Democratic comparison?

No, we get shit.

Shit, shit and more shit.

Swiftboat Obama?

McCain is going to have to spend his time defending his treatment of his first wife, his womanizing, the Keating affair, support for the continued war in Iraq and the fact his wife won't reveal her income sources, not to mention all of the far-right church wacko leaders who support him.

All that up against the Rev. Wright? Dream on neocons.

Because Donald Rumsfeld didn’t like what the intelligence community was providing regarding Iraq and other hot spots, he created his own intelligence gathering apparatus which was placed under the leadership of neo-conservative bonehead Douglas Feith. Feith, a neo-conservative blowhard with zero credentials in the intelligence community, became a Deputy Defense Secretary and led this Pentagon intelligence gathering operation. But rather than being a respected member of the Pentagon civilian leadership, he was widely regarded with absolute contempt by the Pentagon military leadership. He was roundly criticized for being a total failure, as was the office he directed. In fact, the office he directed was held in such low regard for its use of dishonest intelligence gathering methods that it was eventually disbanded by the current Defense Secretary, Robert Gates.

And in terms of intelligence gathered by sources familiar with Iraq, much of it was widely discredited because the sources had a financial agenda which often conflicted with the truth. Yet our leadership chose to believe it because they had been paying these individuals large sums of money and didn’t bother to determine the legitimacy of their claims.

Not a chance in (your) hell. The average of polls shows Obama gaining on McSame, and Obie is not yet the nominee, officially. Herb, you're all wet. Your dream of overturning a woman's right to choose is fundamentally flawed. Your religious dogma requires a whole nation to believe what you do, and to allow putting the notions of one religious context above all else. You are more of a fascist than any of the more liberal minded around here are communistic, by far. Yes, indeed, Herb, you are a fascist. Well I got news for you, America is a Democratic Republic and the sooner you understand what that means the more quickly you can make a more meaningful contribution. Until then, your utterances are easily dismissed by those of us that like to think for ourselves.

Andy_brown is absolutely correct.

If some on this board had their way, we’d be living under born-again Christian theocratic rule, borrowing from the Iranian mullah’s playbook. I'm sure they'd enjoy watching this country move from a republic to something akin to Iran. Unless you’re an pro-life evangelical Christian, you’d be sent to re-education camps for deprogramming. Fun times.

Even sillier yet, you telling me what God means to me. I didn't realize you were a prophet, Broadway. What luck. Do I come to you for absolution? You taking appointments for confession? Do you raise people from the dead and give the blind sight too? I guess because Broadway likes to boast that his brand of Christianity is the only model acceptable to God the almighty, I’m sure he’ll be in heaven all by himself.

Who is has the "right" image? You? Herb? Rev. Wright? Rev. Phelps? Father Maurice Grammer?

I think we all need to hush up and keep your thoughts on God between Her and yourself. Because every time some Christian opens his mouth God has to turn away in shame.

>>do you believe in the Bible's God?

Yes I believe in the God who inspired (many men to write) the Bible. Life's handbook. All of you need to read it more daily and seek the God of the Bible more like many millions of people have throughout the ages.

Here's some material that will give you additional insight...men who were initially bent on disproving the God of the Bible but then wrote these books about it.

"Evidence That Demands A Verdict" by Josh McDowell

also
"The Case for Christ"
"The Case for Faith"
"The Case for a Creator" all by Lee Strobel

but you gotta have faith to believe in the God of the Bible...without that...we get the unwise words of many on this board.
I encourage you...check out these books...and God's Word too...I'm currently reading in Matthew.

"What do you believe a person has to do in order to go to Heaven?"

The short answer can be found in John 3:16. From Wikipedia:

John 3:16 (chapter 3, verse 16 of the Gospel of John) is one of the most widely quoted verses from the Christian Bible. It has been called the "Gospel in a nutshell" because it is considered a summary of some of the most central doctrines of traditional Christianity:

'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.' John 3:16 (KJV)

Herb...
The Bible has been (MIS)/interpeted so many times over the years how do YOU know what to believe?
Witness believe that ONLY 144 anointed ones go to Heaven and that is it. Catholics pray to the Mother Mary which in the Bible is something your not suppose to do. Worship of Idols is a NO NO!
I could go on forever....
So my question Herb is what do YOU believe?
