The restaurant business is a tough one. It got a decent amount of publicity when it opened but it didn't do a good enough job of marketing/promoting itself once the honeymoon phase was over. Just my Opinion though. |

Probably an unfortunate time to open a restaurant (about a year ago right?). Portland restaurants are really struggling right now, even those who have been in business for years and have built up a regular clientèle. |

The draw was Yaw's...Not a fading rock star. When the Yaw's logo came down,it was curtains. |

That is kind of too bad as it will leave a big void right through the middle of the Hollywood district, especially after the building it was located was beautifully restored to be an anchor and main attraction for the neighborhood. Guess folks'll have to wait for the new Whole Foods to bring people to the area. |

Tough break, but Lindsay and the Yaws should just have a laugh and open one of those food carts downtown. THAT would be very Portland! |

As a (technically**) Lifelong Portlander who was in H.S. living in N.E. Portland I must point out the reasons I feared the restaurant would fail from day 1. |

I work directly behind the cafe and am sad to see it gone, even though it was kitschy and food wasn't terrific and service was terribly slow. I have some unused gift cards I got from work that I can't redeem now too... I didn't think it would last, however. |

I think they could have utilized the studio a lot more effectively; for example, allowing the jock to come into the restaurant and bar, interview customers & staff, take requests, etc. I think they could have made a kind of retro-KISN atmosphere, which would have benefited the station and the restaurant. It's too bad it closed; it's to be hoped that somebody who knows how to run a class joint picks it up. |

Perhaps K-HITS could move into the building and keep the "window to the world" going 24/7. |

Couldn't have said it better myself Dave...There was no way to re-create the magic that was the "window on the world" at 10th & Burnside. It was always going to be a sad attempt at nostalgia. |

One day the story will be told (most likely) on page 1 of the Oregonian on how this concept of Yaws-and Rock n Roll went down in flames. I applaud Steve Yaw for holding their feet to the fire when they tried to ace them out. Let's face it, the crowds arrived to re-live the Top Notch experience. I feel bad for Lindsay who was the innocent partner! On a up note...My Son bought Nicks Famous Coney Island and will re-open in late June. |

A guy named Rodger Forni has him beat Bill.....Years ago Mark Hemstreet wagered him $1,000 cash if he could eat 7 doubles with mac salads & 3 pitchers of RC.....The guy did it ....Half of it spilled on the front steps of Nicks door when he left....but he nailed it. |
