Now British Airways is taking beef off their in-flight menus to avoid offending Hindus. What is with all this "I'm offended" crap? It's getting sickening.

quote:

BA's second-biggest long-haul market is to India, where the majority Hindu population do not eat beef because of their beliefs.

Can't really fault them for catering to their customer base.

What if I am offended by Hindus? Can we take them off the plane?

So am I, Roger.

I once got in trouble in high school for uttering the almost exact same line. And for responding "oh yes it does!," to the comment "it doesn't work that way."

British Airways is not being particularly revolutionary to recall beef from the menu. The British Empire was intimately familiar with millions of Hindus when they occupied and exploited India. It is simply good sense to cater to the needs of a majority or sizable plurality of customers. To our collective chagrin, it eliminates the ever-popular bisquits, head cheese and blood pudding snack tray. Oh no!

Many airlines take care of a variety of dietary, cultural and religious needs on their menus. For instance, you don't need to wear a yarmulke to get the freshest and best meal on a flight. Just ask for kosher and enjoy the extra care most carriers will put into your meal. I agree with DT, to succeed in business, one must not confuse political correctness for knowing what the customer base demands.

someone said: "What is with all this "I'm offended" crap?"

I dig you, renaming a street after Rosa Parks was a bonehead thing to do for a "whiner".

Moral: Its easy to call something crap when you are the offender.
