It never made sense to me to use food-based sources to fuel cars.

However, I recently heard of a guy who is using other plants, like Scotch Broom, instead. Now THAT makes sense.

I wondered about that too. In this day, we should be able to get over the taboo surrounding that stuff.

Also sugar palm is very high energy density per foot of ground and resources required to grow and harvest.

I think the corn bit is stupid. It's low efficiency and tough on the ground.

Yup, the only reason we ever considered using corn to make ethanol is because we already grow so much of it, and the powerful agribusiness lobbies support it because it makes them rich(er).
