I like astronomy and space. Sometimes, when you look into the heavens, it's like he is there looking back at you!

It's amazing how those shuttle pics look so much like the drawings in 1950's Willie Ley space exploration of the future books I had as a kid.

...And to think that all of the splendor of space was created in a single day! ;-)

On a more serious note, I wonder how a person who has a fear of heights might feel if he had to perform this kind of work on the Space Shuttle. I have a fear of falling, and I have no clue how my brain would process the sensations of being in the environment shown in the photos.

Just a guess, Alfredo, but without gravity, overcoming a fear of falling would probably last less than a second ... i.e. the minute you realized there were no gravitational forces of significance and you were "floating," such fears would dispel.

OK, but my fear of heights would probably go into overdrive!

The rate of decay of the orbit is very small, so I doubt a fear of falling or a fear of heights would be a problem.

Of course, you're moving along in orbit at 17,000 mph.

If you have a fear of speed, then your in trouble!

How about the fear of not ducking in time to miss the supersonic nut or bolt accidentally dropped during a previous mission? Ouch...

And to think that all of the splendor of space was created in a single day! ;-)

And STILL being created to this very day... AMAZING that I never read out that in the Bible.....
