I'm a little young for this one but think Field's Chevytown had something like that: "Field's Chevytown is asking you to call."

Semoochie is absolutely correct. "Come to Fields today for your Chevrolet. Fields Chevytown is asking you to call."

Fields was the Chevy dealer on SE Grand that is now occupied by Wentworth. The Fields family: father (founder), son (heir apparent) and grandson were all killed in the crash of a private plane in the late 60's or early 70's. The business then became known as Ed Randall's Chevrolet. Later Wentworth & Irwin ditched Ramblers (and Irwin) and bought the Chevy franchise. The old Wentworth & Irwin Rambler, as well as Ralph-Hoyt Plymouth are now the Powell's Books block in NW Portland. Wentworth and Irwin had their own jingle, but they didn't adopt a major song for it.

When Ron Tonkin operated on SW Barbur Blvd., he used a jingle based on "Polly Wolly Doodle".

The version I heard of the Ron Tonkin jingle was recorded by none other than Mitch Miller and his "Sing Along with Mitch" all-male choir.

In the early 70's, Irv Leopold also did a Toyota jingle based on "Mr. Sandman".
Mr. Toyota-man send me a truck,
with lots of power I won't get stuck.
Send me a pick-up with plenty of class
And lots of room for me to rest my...groceries!

Speaking of- the old Leopold dealership sure is a nice eyesore on McLaughlin!

"Where was Tonkin's lot on Barbur?"

That was the former Gregg-Owens Chevrolet that Ron Tonkin bought in 1960. It is at 8350 SW Barbur Blvd. (between SW 21st and 22nd Aves.) and now houses Pacific Car Care. The Boom Boom Room is across the boulevard from there.

In the Midwest, Holsum Bread used the same jingles as Franz Bread out here.
