actually, it does matter, but in the quest for the quick buck, quality, localism, and continuity are sacrificed for the short term gain. Radio got away from what it did best and now looks for gimmicks and gizmos to pump the bottom line. People trimmed and automation more wide spread and listenership and revenue flattened and dropped, more streamlining and yet the numbers for both continue to disappoint. Obvious the fix isn't working. Time to go back to when it wasn't broke and start from there. The latest HD syndie, webcast, broadcasting lame content at K***dotcom, check out our K-cutie, for more info go to us dotcom, is not an enhancement, but more of a do it yourself version so we can cut further the deliverers of local content. The website may be user friendly, but is no substitute for the companionship that a REAL LIVE voice offers, I'm more likely to sample an advertiser if the announce is a customer as well. Joe Outtamarket, doesn't speak to me, Larry Localvoice does. The product (radio) has been degraded, the customer base was free to sample other options, and radio does nothing but tag along in an attempt to grow NEW audience. It's the chicken and egg. were these changes implemented because of declining audience and revenue, or in answer to? Was the audience fragmented because of too many stations, or were more stations needed for variety and diversity? If there are already too many stations then how does HD improve the situation? All I see is poor long term decision making at the boardroom level. Stockholders the priority over local market and too many damn move ins. Somebody paid to much for dinkytown radio and moved it. Instead of owning the smalltown pie, they went for a piece of big city pie... bad decision. Not seeing many of the move ins that became the big city Powerhouse. too many only fish in the pond, or big fish in the pond became another fish in a shrinking lake. That too a bad decision. Reminds me of Field of dreams where all some people could see was a ball field that made no money. They couldn't see the dream. For radio, not "build it and they will come", Rather, Put it back together and they will come..... The dollar signs are blocking your view of the players.........

And yes and yet another example of when 'Wall Street' or the Wall Street mentality gets mixed up with Broadcast Radio, your home subprime junk mortgage , crude oil speculation, and hardware stores.

It's notable the guy who lost his gig in Greensboro was picked up by the competition. Too bad this doesn't happen more often.

I agree with Stoner, The late night guy at KUPL needs to Exploit The wolf and let people know that the person on the radio at the Wolf is NOT LIVE!!!!!

ummm...Roanoke is not "competition" for Greensboro...it's quite a bit north in Virginia. All these guys are good, especially Sean Kramer (Seattle), who may already have another gig himself. Talent finds a way.
