On the front porch this morning was the latest regurgitation of dead trees, the Verizon® Yellow Pages. I quickly opened it for a yearly laugh before putting it in its normal place.

In the "Business White Pages" listings:
"KBBT 107.5 FM The Beat"
"KIJZ-Smooth Jazz 105.9"
"KKJZ 106.7 FM Today's Smooth Jazz" (and three listings no less!)
"KKSL AM 1290"
"KMUZ Radio"
"KOTK Max 910"
"KPDX Fox 49 Television"
"KRVO The River 105.9"
"KTRO 93.1 FM"
"KUPL 970 AM Straight Country"
"KUPL-KLTH K-Lite"

But wait! There's more under the actual Yellow Pages heading "Radio Stations & Broadcast Companies:"
(and these are just the ones that aren't repeats of the above!)
"KBBT-The Beat-970 AM" (It's been 12 years!)
"KFXY 1080 The Fan" (Obviously a typo)
"KKEY Talk Radio 1150" (2 listings)
"KKGT Radio" (2 listings - one with the transmitter location off Fourth Plain, and where the studio was in Clackamas)
"KOTK 620 AM"
"KPAM-Stereo 860 AM" (w/ Division St. address - Christian Supply is still there, but KPAM obviously isn't)
"KVAN 1550 AM" (3 listings, one in Ridgefield and two on Van Mall Dr.)
"KWJJ 105 1 The Buzz" (yes, this is exactly how the listing appears)
"KXYQ/AM 1010 The Voice"
"ROSIE 105" (complete with the really old 5th Ave. address!)
"Sunny 910 FM-KKSN AM" (ditto on the 5th Ave. address!)

With such accurate and up-to-date listings, I made sure to place it where it will do the second most good - in the recycling bin. The most good would've been if however many forests of trees were saved by not printing these things. I mean, what are we supposed to do, call and ask if various stations/formats are coming back because it said so in the phone book? :-) (Disclaimer: NO! Don't do this!)

I have to admit I still use paper phone books, but I've used the Qwest-branded one for years. With crummy listings like this, what else is also wrong? I really don't want to waste time dialing wrong numbers and/or using an address that turns out to be from under old ownership two moves ago.
