Z100 PORTLAND LOOKING FOR TRACKERS!
We're looking for a few voice trackers to help us out here at heritage CHR Z100 Portland! NOT looking for trackers who breeze through a show in 15 minutes. Willing to take the time to be creative and even throw some phones on??

Send your audio to me asap.

z100tracking@gmail.com...

Please don't send to my clear channel e-mail.

You must be able to connect to us on the Clear Channel network. AKA only CC people...sorry!

Mick Lee, mplee83, 4/24/2008 6:30:05 PM, micklee@clearchannel.com

1. How the hell is one supposed to put
" phones" in VTing; besides totally faking it? The whole point of phones is the connection of when you're doing a live show.

2. " Only CC people" can apply! Umm- really , there's CC people still employed? Does he mean the recpeptionist or janitor?

3. If he's NOT looking to breeze through a show in 15 minutes, why doesn't he hire a staff to put their sweat and blood into a a 4 or five our show a day, and build some ratings?

This guy, " Mick Lee" is a moron. There's no way I, or anyone who cares too sh*ts about radio, could look at themsleves everymorning, and still go to work at a place like this. CC and this guy are an abslolute joke.

Mick Lee is probably NOT a moron, he's a guy taking direction from corporate.

Phones on voice tracks are relatively easy, and it isn't really about the caller, it is about the perception of the audience.

It is possible to track and make it sound local and entertaining, if you take the time.

It is easier to connect CC to CC station, hence the "only CC people can apply".

Look, I'm not happy our industry has come to this either, but the constant whining about CC is useless. Get over it, face reality, and move on.

Just my opinion. And I don't currently work for Clear Channel.

In my opinion he is- because it's people like him who are the problem. There's NO resistance to this kind of stuff. Stop defending it. And my suspicion is that you do do work for CC.

What publication did this 'wanted' appear in ?

I find it rather bizarre to say the least. But that might be tempered if I knew what venue the ad appeared.

Based on the last line in the ad, I'll bet this appeared at AllAccess.com.

maybe they should have only run it on Clear Careers.

If they only want CCers, run the ad in house.

"Willing to take the time to be creative and even throw some phones on??.....Yes, but it takes me 4 hours to really do a 4 hour show "right"

Are you willing to pay for prep time as well as the time it takes to lay the trax?

Maybe they can do the shift live, but connect the time clock to the mic button, and only pay for the ACTUAL time on air.

or, consider piecework.

30 cents a sentence, maximum 3 dollars per stop set. 35 cents per liner card. 75 cents a phoner, limit 2 per hour, 50 cents per morning show mention limit 4 per shift.

Some restrictions apply. See your employee handbook or, HR for clarification of payable talking points.

What an F'ing joke! Z100 is by far the most pathetic station on the dial! They have no morning show because they are too cheap to hire talent. They have a 6 hour voice tracked woman from out of town and a voice tracked night guy!

Please tell me how radio can get any worse? I have nothing against Mick Lee, Im sure he is a great guy. He is not much of a talent but at least he is live, which is one of the only live talents left on the station
RIP z100! A legendary station DESTROYED by Cheap Channel,
The End!

I can't believe none of you remember what's going on at CC. Mike Lee is doing the only thing he can right now, by hiring within CC.

On January 28, 2008 Clear Channel announced a Hiring Freeze.

maybe they should have considered a firing freeze,

you know, with the slowing economy and all.

Fire people = economic slowdown
Hire people = growth

Clearly Hurting

As investment-bank write-downs go, so goes the pending $19.4 billion leveraged buyout of Clear Channel Communications.

The buyout itself is dragging on in courts in New York and Texas, and now the banks that were supposed provide the financing for the buyout are seeking arbitration with private-equity firms Thomas H. Lee and Bain Capital to resolve the dispute. Still, it is worth taking a second to gauge how badly the banks are in the hole when it comes to write-downs. That is because each new write-down leaves the banks with less capital and makes them less willing, so the reasoning goes, to finance more deals, writes Heidi N. Moore. Not that Clear Channel cares, necessarily; the San Antonio broadcaster argues that a deal is a deal and that the banks have to provide the financing they committed to. It rejected the arbitration offer. Within the group, Royal Bank of Scotland, stretched by the credit crisis and its acquisition of ABN Amro assets, today announced $11.7 billion of pretax write-downs and confirmed it will ask shareholders to approve a $23.78 billion rights issue. Deutsche Bank expects write-downs of $3.95 billion in this quarter. Wachovia recently announced $1.3 billion in write-downs and – oh yeah – a $7 billion capital infusion. And then there's Morgan Stanley. The New York investment bank has taken about $3 billion of write-downs related to leveraged loans since the third quarter and has $24 billion of remaining exposure, according to Deutsche Bank analyst Mike Mayo.

Meanwhile, back at the station...

z1blunder has hit rock bottom thanks to Cheap Channel. This is sad and pathetic that 100.3 has turned into this mess. Ever since Michael Hays came to Z100 the station has gone down the toilet.

This ' VTers wanted' is a desperate attempt by a PD who wants to keep his job and wants to show that he can be creative while operating within the corporate rules and conditions imposed by CC. I bet that if we looked into this further, other CC management postings could be 'out there' for VTers ( in company only ) for other CC clusters. But posted I would think in CC approved 'in house ' publications.

What mystifies me ; Why would someone post this on something like allaccess or in any public forum or publication??? That is counter intuitive to any reasonable corporate policy. You would think that Clear Careers would suffice, unless this whole 'idea' is NOT corporate sanctioned, for some reason !

Going out of house to recruit 'CC in house employees" makes absoultely NO sense. Unless you have former employees with active passwords in the CC system . And that still makes no sense !

The only other thought that comes to my mind would be that this PD put this out in a public venue to create some "buzz'...and then the question is why?? And to what purpose or advantage?

Mick Lee is not a PD, he is the afternoon jock who sounds like he is 17 years old. Does Z100 even have a PD? I wouldn't be surprised if Cheap channel elimanated that position. Z100 is an absolute embarrassment to portland radio.

Radio today is much like the fictional Fahrenheit 451. It's dead in the metro. Smashed by those who now control things. But it's still being kept alive in the outback. Like here on the coast. Where real broadcasters, instead of corporate "suits" own the operation and believe in "live" radio. We may be a rag tag bunch but we are practicing the craft until one day there may be a calling to see if anybody still remembers how to do it. There are the beginners fumbling along, others who chose to stay in the smaller markets for their entire careers, and a few old pros, who have been "around". A lot of us never hit the big time as a jock, but we all ended up with interesting stories to tell. Some people 'dis small market radio, but it's where most of us began our radio careers(and where many of us, have ended up in pursuit of our radio dreams) And this may be just about the only place one can still come to practice their chops. Oh, BTW, I am excitedly awaiting news of the first larg market exec. who decides "live" radio is the way to do it in the majors. He will be written-up in the trades like he's some kind of genius. "L.A. Station Manager has a revolutionary idea"... But as we struggle everyday with the challenges and fun of live radio, we know the real truth. God bless you "fellow babies"

Most AM stations had long ago stopped broadcasting in C-Quam. It doesn't seem likely they would start again. The last I heard, there was some signal loss to mono by implementing the system.
