You guys have me there.

Or as one of our former presidents would have said, 'That's all very well and good.'

I hate auto racing too. Can't help it.

I'm a driver, I'm a winner. Things are gonna change. I can feel it.

I like this shirt:

We need to spice it up a bit. More crashes, animals on the track, babies, you know, SOMETHING!

Race car drivers are FOXY!!! I saw one on Letterman last night. (Danica Patrick)

I could get into racing if they all looked like her!

It's interesting to see the gals getting into professional auto racing...mostly in domestic open wheel and drag racing...have not see much at all in NASCAR or F1...been following auto racing for over 20 years...love the left turns!

Aw, Motocross is probably fine.

But do they always turn left, too?

Herb, you need to switch to Formula One (F1). They race almost entirely clockwise, so every turn is to the right. Perfect for your "style," eh? (Note: F1 is THE most expensive circuit to race in)

The history behind this is horse-racing, which was originally done clockwise. Horse racing in this country during colonial times was run clockwise, or "right-handed" (all right-hand turns), but during the American revolution that English custom was deliberately replaced by left-handed track races like the ones we see in America today.

In England 30–40% of races are now run the same way ours are. In central Europe, however, most are run right-handed.

Incidentally, Man o' War's victory at the 1920 Belmont Stakes was run right-handed. The Belmont was run that way from its first season at Belmont Park in 1905 until 1921.

I guess that makes me a Formula One guy, then.

And incidentally, I've long been fascinated with horse racing and Man O' War.

Drag racing is for moderates then! Go hard, right down the middle!

What's Man O War?

Is there anything we can't invoke a car analogy for?

George Bush is like a race car with a blown engine, both are stuck in the pits, lost all of their oil, and no hope of winning.

Herb: It just depends on how the track is laid out, what kind of installation it is in (e.g. outside or in a stadium/arena of some sort) and where you are, really. Scandanavian MX tracks, in fact, often tend to wind to the Left.

Incidentally, my favourite place to sling mud around here (hint hint) is Washougal Park........ ;o)
