As a side to the thread "Cable execs argue against "a la carte" cable choices", what channels would you choose if you could go "a la carte"? For me, it would have to be A&E, Discovery, Comedy Central, CNN, and maybe TCM or AMC. That's about 80% of my cable watching.

ABC CBS NBC FOX Discovery WGN PBS KPTV FOX Sports ESPN ESPN 2 TLC CNN Headline News CNBC MSNBC FOX News History A&E TNT TBS USA VH1 VH1 Classic MTV Travel HGTV HBO MHDTV National Geographic MOJO So, the ala carte probably wouldn't work for me since I like to watch random things at random times and also value choice.

KATU KOPB Create PBS HD Oregon Channel KPTV KGW Weather Plus KOIN KPXG KPDX (maybe) KRCW (maybe) Nickelodeon (got to have my cartoons) Weather Channel Discovery JCTV (only because they show stuff related to Motocross) Univision (Sabado Gigante) TVW KCTS CVTV/FVTV (I think if KBOO was based in Vancouver and had a TV equivalent, this would be it ;o) TV Etc. (1, 2 & 3) maybe some of the DMX/MC channels That's about it. If this were 1988 I would likely also include MTV in my list, but not today........

I especially miss IFC, and Sundance for great movies and original series they offer. Truly 2 movie channels that are on par with the big boys if not better at times than HBO.

Chris, you'd have to buy a TV first so start there. Now, do you go with a Panasonic, Samsung, or Toshiba.

Anybody know what determines whether WGN Chicago is included in cable line-ups? It is hit or miss all over the country it seems. Is it still on Comcast-Portland? (I'm out of the area). I like watching the Cubs, occasionally their local news, and they run good movies too.
