The government has been dragging its feet on this one for decades, underscoring how the automaker lobby's power to delay such implementations is paramount. This is why a new age of politics may be dawning, one where candidates are not beholden to the largest corporate and special interests. It's premature to say anything but wait and see, but the shrub and his handlers couldn't care less about anything but lining the pockets of the industries that have kept them in power. This is a piece of legislation that will have no effect on oil profits while the shrubhead is in office, anyway. It's sort of like Bush saying on his last day of office, with a Democrat incumbent waiting in the wings, "I've decided to withdraw some more troops." This is the way war hawks have exited before. It works. Look how Herb really believes Nixon ended the war in Vietnam when history clearly shows he was a murdering villain that ran out of Congressional support. |
