First off, I am NOT one to fight off technology. I was there over 30 years ago now, when all we had was a couple of turntables, carts, tape, and a xmitter that would kick off here and there. And let's not forget about the station managers wife that would call! However, there have been some fantastic advances in computer technology in radio, which has made for a better experience for the listener; which of course I am all for. Unfortunatly, this same technology has also watered down radio, into the dismal state that it is today. While there are somethings about the " good ole days" which weren't so good; the magic of the radio station, and the music that was being played is something that has not been replicated. Radio today can be summed up like this: Lame, boring jocks, and souless music.

I say all this, because I know that PD's and current airtalent read this board; and it's time to change the MO, before commercial radio looses the battle to the IPOD, XM, or when it becomes widespread ( and it will) Car internet radio. Take a moment and watch and listen to the thoughts of The late Wolfmanjack; he hits the nail on the head. Then check the other clip of " Mix 98.3". I posted on another thread, but I think you all need to see it.

It is so unbelievable how bad radio sounds today! The same crappy researched playlist with voice tracked dj's that say the same stupid liner card sayings over and over! What a joke, what an absolute JOKE!

Am I all alone here, or did anyone else hear the Battle Hymn of the Republic in the background while reading EugeneBob's post?

Sheesh!

"Am I all alone here, or did anyone else hear the Battle Hymn of the Republic in the background while reading EugeneBob's post?.....

Actually I heard Yankee Doodle, like on Green Acres when Mr. Douglas went on about the American farmer being the backbone of the country... Makes a man want hotscakes....

good thought, but the ones that can "change things" don't read these boards. Some PDs would love to add more talent, but can't. Some jocks don't have the talent to do any more than read the cards, and some management doesn't want anyone outside of morning drive to do any more than read the cards. Sucks for those who want content and don't get it, and those who can deliver content and have no outlet....

You've read the posts from people who want less talk and 'mo rock or abandoned radio for SAT RAD and I-PODS. Radio is more focused on delivering internet content rather than concentrating on reaching and conecting with the local listener...

Too bad, radio became another version of "NEW COKE" but trashed the old formula in the process...........
