Last week it was Laura Bush, asking me for money. Now Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager, is hitting me up. (Note that I have never signed up for a McCain list - I signed up in 2004 for the Oregon Republican Party's mailing list, so I find it a bit presumptuous to be addressed as "McCain Supporter.") Dear McCain Supporter, George Soros the "liberal megadonor" is at it again. He and his group of billionaire left-wing Democrats have pledged $40 million dollars of soft money to smear John McCain in a national television ad campaign. In an article published in Politico, it was reported that Paul Begala and David Brock met with a gang of Manhattan liberals at the home of George Soros to outline their plans for a $40 million dollar ad campaign against Senator McCain. Brock is quoted as saying the group could do the work of the press corps that has "fallen down on the job" when it comes to McCain! Folks, that is why we need your help and we need it now. We need to be able to answer whatever smear campaigns the liberal left throws at us. Please help as we combat this base demagoguery with a donation of $50, $100, $250 or even $1000 today. Soros and his liberal friends need to know that they cannot buy this election with their billions. With your help we will continue to get out the straight talk on the issues that Americans care about. Sincerely, Rick Davis Rick Davis Campaign Manager P.S. - Billionaire George Soros has shown time after time that he is willing to fund baseless left-wing smear campaigns. Help us combat the millions he plans to use against us - please make your most generous donation right away. Many thanks.

It won't be hard to smear McCain. In fact, it won't even be a smear, it will be the truth. McCain = Bush third term. Any questions? http://z.about.com/d/politicalhumor/1/0/R/e/1/mccain_bush_hug.jpg

Contrast that with this appeal I just got from the Obama campaign, asking for volunteers: Obama for America Dear Andrew, Host a House Party From the start of this campaign, we knew we would rely on the kind of grassroots support that only you can provide. For more than a year, you've answered the call -- organizing your neighborhoods, talking to voters, and building our movement one person and one voice at a time. But with Oregon's voter registration deadline coming up on April 29th, it's never been more important to take ownership of this effort. That's why we're asking you to be a leader for Barack in Oregon by hosting a More Voices House Party on Saturday, April 26th. These parties are a great way to introduce Barack's message to your friends and neighbors -- and bring more people and more voices into the primary process. No prior political experience is required. A typical party will have 10 to 12 guests, and we'll provide you with everything you need for a successful party, including a host DVD, Obama gear, and even a local speaker. All you need is a willingness to turn your enthusiasm for Barack into action. Sign up to help grow this movement in Oregon -- host a More Voices House Party: http://or.barackobama.com/ORhouseparties These parties should be a lot of fun -- I hope you can join us and host. No mention of right-wing billionaires, smears by the conservative right...wonder why? Andrew

It seems like most of the United States' citizens will not respond to " McCain in 2008. Give republicans another shot! Come on! "

I think McCain has missed a golden opportunity; If he campaigned about the issues the way he REALLY feels - with less concern about " unifying his party " then I could have trusted him more. But I'm not going to vote for the guy who either a). Really feels the way he claims or b). DOESN'T feel that way, but wants me to cross my fingers that he'll say one thing, but do another. Pass.
