Boston and Styx are touring this summer. There is no confirmed date yet for the Clark County Amp but rumor is that they will be here in July. Another rumor is that Dennis DeYoung will be along for the ride with Styx. This will be an awesome concert to say the least. (Boston & Styx), (Rush), (Heart, Cheap Trick, and Journey). Gonna be one hell of a summer in Clark County! One can only hope that there is a (Scorpions & Judas Preist) concert as well!!!!

The best Styx album was Styx II. Still looking for Styx I on CD. I remember playing the cut "Lady" from that vinyl when it was just an album cut, not being popular as a single until 2 years after the album was released. I actually played "The Earl Of Roseland" more frequently ... look out for that guitar!!!!!!
Styx II I think was later released as the album "Lady."

Later on Styx became a lot more mainstream once they had their signature formula worked out and pumped out all the later albums that most of you younguns like. Truth is, if you examine all the later Styx, it just reflects what they put down on their first three albums, I, II, and The Serpent Is Rising. James Young and Chuck Panozzo are the only members from the original line up that still play I think, so the addition of Dennis DeYoung might be a treat since he was one of the original vocalists.

Andy, check out The Complete Wooden Nickel Recordings Click here. It's their first four albums from that label combined into one collection.
Styx
Styx II
The Serpent is Rising
Man of Miracles

It's a really great set of their early work.

Very cool! I need this. Hadn't run across it.

Another cut I used to put on the air in the wee hours frequently, both back at WSAN and then later on the all nighter at KVAN, was "Little Fugue/Father O.S.A." The boys were very creative and were excellent musicians, both instrumentally and great harmonies.

The gamut of presentation from songs like "A Day" to "I'm Gonna Make You Feel It" showed me way back then that these guys were on to something.

I'm sorry DT, but Journey is NOT Journey without Steve Perry! Blasphemy!

I bought a great 70's butt-rock compilation CD at the Title Wave (Mult Co. Library's) used book store on Saturday for .75 when I was getting some books on tape for Shyguy. I meant to give it to him as a joke, but I listened to it all the way to Salem on volume 11. Awesome CD of above artist's classic hits. I'm in love with Heart and Pat Benatar all over again. Sorry Shyguy!

I'm not embarrassed to say that I would pay big bucks to see Steve Perry w/Journey. For NKOTB, you'd have to pay ME.

Hey Merkin are you "lovin, touchin, squeezin" Mr. Merkin tonight??

Sorry, bad Journey Reference. Journey is OK, but some of their stuff is so damn corny.

( sing)"send her my loooove, Roses never die"

Styx WITH Dennis? NICE! I saw them with Dennis in 1991 (Edge of the Century tour, one of their greatest albums IMHO) ... and they were dynamite. I saw them five years later without Dennis and while it was OK, it wasn't the same.

I will NEVER see Journey with Steve Perry. It just ain't Journey.

" I will NEVER see Journey with Steve Perry. It just ain't Journey."

I said that about Queen and Paul Rodgers.

Which is why I didn't go.

Brian May is about as good of a guitar player as they come. But I'm not into guitars like that. I drum. Which is STILL why it wasn't enough for me to see Roger Taylor. So I hear ya.

The absolutely horrific thought of Rush sans Neil just crossed my mind.

I would seriously commit suicide. Life just would not be worth living.

I'm with you, Brian, and didn't realize how close we were to that very thing until I read Ghost Rider...whew...there would be no Rush if any member departed.

I was very skeptical about the Paul Rodgers/Queen matchup. No new music, nothing on the radio...and I love BOTH. Yesterday, Mark & Brian played a new song from them as bumper music and it blew me away! I'd love to hear more of that! Rodgers has never been backed up by orchestral vocals like that, and the combination was amazing! Guess I just couldn't hear it in my head. I only heard maybe 20 seconds of it, and it stuck with me.
