Tonight we were entertained by Cirque Du Soleil. It was a birthday gift for my daughter that our entire family truly enjoyed.

I had heard so many good things about this show over the years that this year we decided it was time.

If you get the chance and want true entertainment that pretty much blows away any concert I have ever taken in, this performance was spectacular.

I am going Wednesday...my first time seeing it live!

Thanks, Chris, for comfirming my suspicion that this is going to be awesome!

From what we read before the performance they have added some different elements for this show. Like live music, and a story line.

But you also get unreal gymnastics from the powerful to the graceful. Comedy, juggling and a stage presence that is simply mind blowing.

It's a real production of the highest quality.

Entre- you'll be remembering this for years to come.

The live music and the storyline are what really pulled me in, this time.

That, combined with the 30% discount for Cirque Club members, made it irresistable! I held out as long as possible, on the fence, and was actually relieved to have purchased tickets, finally.

I don't get me sometimes, either :-)

I also went to the show on Sunday and was suitably impressed. I wish I had known about the discount for club members though... they dont seem to mention that on the Cirque Club site.

The worst part for sure was dealing with the parking, waiting to leave was terrible. Entre- do yourself a favor, park downtown and ride the streetcar (which runs right in front of the Cirque tent). Hell, I could have walked downtown in the time I spent waiting to get out of the lot (which I paid $10 for!).

One thing that kinda bugged me about the Cirque was the sneaky ticketing scheme. The vast majority of the close-up seats were only available if you bought the $$$ Tapis Rouge package.

We ended up parking in a garage about 7-8 blocks away for 6 bucks. The walk wasn't bad at all and we easily found our seats.

We did sit very close up to the front about 3-4 rows back. I wanted our kids to be able to see the expressions on the faces of the performers

We ended up buying a t-shirt for $40 (YIKES!!) for my daughter and a CD of the music for $20 (not as bad).

The storyline is a funeral. But this kind of funeral is the way I want to go out.

Life's goal is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, with a box of chocolates in one hand and a beer in the other, totally worn out, screaming "Holy crap!! What a ride!"

Yes I have heard that before Skybill.

I believe the first question you're going to be asked is "did you enjoy the life you were given?" To this point I would say yes.

You'd enjoy the performance Sky, probably along with beer and popcorn people were consuming around us.

I thought that was a funny saying. I can’t say I actually practice it, although I’ve never met a chocolate I didn’t like!

How much longer is it going to run?

I think I'd like it too and so would my wife and kids. (Probably just the popcorn though since I'd be driving!)

We can't make it for a couple of weeks or so. I need to stay close to home right now for my daughter.

I just went and looked up the prices.

Now I know why you titled this thread WOW WOW WOW!!!

We won't be able to make it this week so we'll have to wait until it comes around again.

Is it always the same show or do they change it from year to year?

Maybe by then our grandson, who is due any day now, would enjoy it!

Tadc: I got an email for a 20% discount, then 30% a week later. Our seats are 5th row, there were closer ones available at the same price, but I didn't act quickly enough. The seats we have are fill ins of nearly sold out shows...selected dates only.

My store doesn't close until 7:30, so I'll be cabbing it both ways. Good to know about the parking, though...you made that decision for me. I live fairly close by, but time is of the essence!

And thanks to Chris, I know how much I need for loot, approximately...:-)

The show changes periodically, and you can get DVD's of past performances.

So cool. I'm so excited about this!

Glad you're excited Entre. I didn't look for discounts even though we booked back in early Feb. Just wasn't looking for them I guess. I was willing to pay the big bucks so we could experience something special as a family. No regrets.

They did have DVDs for sale of the current show but with a different troupe but the same performance.

Can't wait to hear back on your impressions of the show.

Worth every penny. I was on board from the on-sale announcement, but needed to work out the 1-ticket-or-2 dilemma. That holdup was the only reason I didn't buy them earlier.

Would have sprung for the whole Tapis Rouge enchilada but that would have guaranteed a no-go from the person I've invited...I think.
