Just a few weeks ago, Fred Barnes and Bob Novak were crowing about a McCain-Romney ticket. Convinced that voters would overlook his magic underpants club, they gave the impression that the GOP leadership felt Mitt would be a good match. Their speculation was parroted around the country with silly canine soundbites from Romney, and before long, folks began to think about a Mac-n-Mitt ticket.

Since nobody is ignorant of what attack strategy could be used by the other team in an election season, this is very puzzling. One wonders how they thought that Reverend Wright -- a decorated Vietnam Veteran, highly respected community leader, scholar and deeply religious man -- was more of a liability to an Obama run, than documented ritual abuse of dozens of captive little Mormon girls could be for a Romney veep shot. A few seconds of anger from the pulpit in a 20 year career seem a whole lot less significant with some context, but there is no context that makes years of hurting kids acceptable.

When the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints first moved to the sleepy town of Eldorado, Texas the citizens should have reached out to the good folks of Antelope, Oregon for a sister city program. For a few years now, the residents have been singing the Plural Girl Blues to small audiences. Though the compound was hardly a secret, it did not attract much outside media attention until recent events forced them into the spotlight. The story is compelling, disgusting, sad, and unfortunately, not over by a long shot.

It only gets worse for the Mitt-heads. As if God unleashed a plague, thousands of dead birds are washing ashore on the Great Salt Lake. According to biologists, like Romney's chances of being on the ballot in November, they have been dead for quite awhile. Still, the timing was very effective, or as Mike Huckabee might say, a miracle.

Even though the Texas church has nothing to do with the LDS church Mitt belongs too, I agree, it wouldn't be very helpful in an election.

Oh, I see....this is still more more political dreck. Damn.

By the title given, I thought the thread was about Mitt Romney switching to a different CD recording programme, coming from using Roxio..........

(That's 2 thus far.)

Plural girl blues. Plural girl blues.
Anniversary today, can't remember whose.
But them first few weddings I remember well,
Lucille, Elizabeth and Annabelle,
Then Gracie and Maude, I think Jennifer
After that it's kind of a blur.

Plural girl blues. Plural girl blues.
Hey Lord, I got them plural girl blues.
Oh, you'd never believe how hard it gets,
With 13 wives and 40-something kids.
You can't even think with all the noise,
And you'll be plumb wore out, spanking the boys.

Plural girl blues. Plural girl blues.
Gotta head up to Wal-Mart and buy a hundred pairs of shoes.
Well, I got this one wife that I won't mention
Says she don't get enough attention.
I said, "Woman, Good Lord Almighty,
Don't I see you every other Friday?"

Plural girl blues. Plural girl blues.
I got 13 pages of honey-do's.

You gotta admit, Plural Girl Blues is a catchy number, but since Vitalogy brought the FLDS child abuse up in a new thread, I guess we should get to the important stuff.

Michael Arrington interviewed Mitt Romney back in November for Tech Crunch. He gave no clear answers on his ripping or burning software choices, but showed some love for his iPod. Mitt also gave insight into his platform on platforms:

MA: I guess that brings us to the most important question I have to ask you, which is... Governor Romney, Mac or PC?

MR: I have a PC. My sons have a Mac and swear by it, but I have a couple PCs.

MA: So one of your sons is on Mac, or most of them are?

MR: 3 out of the 5 boys I believe are on Macs, and they swear by them, but I'm a creature of habit, I've got my PC.

MA: I've got to say I'm slightly disappointed and that's going to hurt you in Silicon Valley (laughs), but at least it will help you in Texas where Dell is. Do you have an iPod?

MR: I do.

MA: Of course you have an iPod! What's on it? What are you listening to right now, what sort of albums have you downloaded or listened to?

MR: What I typically download is country music as well as 1960's music. I'm a baby boomer, so the Beatles and the Stones and some of the old groups from the 1960's are my favorites, I listen to them and I listen to country. I might have some inspirational music as well, but those are the highlights for me.

MA: Governor Romney, thank you very much for your time.

MR: Good to be with you. Thanks Michael.

Damn Zak, I hate to disappoint you with dreck.

Since I led you to believe that the Clintons were an amusing troupe, you ought to check out the WOW WOW WOW thread for the Cirque de Soleil discussion.

Maybe you can forgive me for not sharing Mitt's stance on audio issues sooner. When it comes to the candidates, I am all for the author behind the Audacity of Hope. :0)
