I've been observing that the people that seem to be most into "retro" stuff are Gen-X and to a lesser degree Gen-Y. Here are some examples: * People who enjoy dressing up in vintage clothes, either for theme parties or as a standard part of their "look." * Hobbyists who like to make movies on 8mm film. A few years ago, the Oregonian ran a story about a local film festival that was put on by some 8mm hobbyist filmmakers. Most of the people in the photos appeared to be in their 20s and 30s. * People who enjoy collecting, using, or working on electronic equipment that is not state of the art, such as turntables, AM radios, and anything containing vacuum tubes. (Guilty as charged: I was born in 1974.) * People who drive cars made before 1970. Of particular interest are the antique Volvos and VW Microbuses that one sees in Portland. By comparison, my observation has been that Baby Boomers shun all this old-fashioned stuff, and they cannot understand younger people's fascination with it.

...VW Microbuses... Was it a red VW microbus with shovels and rakes and implements of destruction? I can relate to #3. I like the older electronic equipment too. It's so much easier to work on! Although I wasn't born in 1974, I did graduate from high school that year!
