If Obama were to verbally and publicly distance himself from her support, it would speak volumes. Otherwise, we'll be left to assume it fits in with his general history of anti-Americanism.

Wrong.

All anyone needs to see is Hanoi Jane's photo in that North Vietnamese gunner's nest.

Her endorsement of any democrat actually playing into the republican's hands.

On the TV screen, simply show two photos, side by side.

One photo of the honourable John McCain in prison fatigues.

The other photo, of the dastardly Hanoi Jane aiding the blackhearted commies who mercilessly held that brave man captive for 5.5 years.

Think I'll call Karl Rove with that idea.

Obama is running on the past, the days of discrimination are over, have been for a while, and he's banking on his blackness covering up his lack of qualifications. Any one that opposes him will be labeled a racist, end of discussion, like with Al Gore saying any disagreement of Global Warming is like arguing the earth is flat. Hes right and anyone that disagrees with him is wrong.

Anyone who would make their voting decision based on a celebrity endorsement doesn't deserve to vote. Why do we care? I am just glad that Hollywood is comfortable with their income level that they can tell us regular folks to go green whilst they hop in the limo or Hummer for the trip to the studio, air condition the mansion while boarding the Carbon credit bandwagon, and feel guilty enough about their excessive earnings
that they are willing to support legislation and programs that drain the little peoples pockets...

Didn't H.J. also help end the reign of Chief Knockahoma the Braves mascot, and label the fans doing the tommahawk chop as demeaning to native Americans. I am tired of P.C. Let's call a spade a spade when warranted... calling it a manually operated utilitarian soil moving device is full of fecal matter.

How about the Missouri congressman who was offended that Mr. Obama was referred to as "Articulate"? Wonder if he actually knows what articulate means? Sounds like a compliment to me.

BTW, who is Shawn Penn backing, besides Hugo Chavez?

To say that a Jane Fonda endorsement is a negative is to say the majority of the American public are able to remember Jane Fonda that way. You're forgetting her unbelievable popularity during the 80's physical fitness craze and I suspect a larger percentage of people equate her with legwarmers and Aerobic workouts than they do as "Hanoi Jane".

When one of the American prisoners slipped a note to Hanoi Jane to smuggle out, she instead turned the note over to the Vietnamese captors. The prisoner was severely beaten as a result.

The left doesn't care about that, Deane. It would get in the way of the socialist agendae they share with their godless, atheistic comrades.

Remember, it's these kind of leftist Einsteins that protested when we placed missiles in Europe to prevent the Soviets from taking over the rest of that continent.

Rather than believe evil is real, it's far more convenient and feel-good for them to idolize liberal Hollywood sycophants.

None of this matters.

The focus is Obama -vs- McCain.

McCain is a Republican. He's going to continue all the bad Republican stuff we've been living through.

That's a Republican war, Republican economy, and Republican corruption, for starters.

About 70 percent of the nation, does not approve of how Republicans have handled things.

That is the big picture, nice and simple take on the choice at hand. Nobody, that matters, is going to put another Republican in charge, given what we've all seen happen when we vote for Republicans, based on some lapel pin, goofy photos or other minor league things.

This is a minor league thing, and is simply not relevant past some therapeutic bashing surrounding it.

Tired of the Republican crap? Obama.

Not tired of it? McCain.

It's that simple, and the numbers will play that out nicely.

"His HATRED for Jews was amazing."

Trixter, your complete and total ignorance is breathtaking. Not only did Mr. Nixon save Israel's bacon :-) during the Yom Kippur war...but with all his warts, the Israeli people had no greater friend than Richard Milhous Nixon. He walked the walk.

SO whether it's Mr. Clinton or Mr. Nixon, don't look at what is talked about...look at what is actually done:

"If judged only by what is heard on his White House tapes, Richard Nixon, who resigned the presidency 31 years ago this week, appears to have been a man obsessed with Jews, stewing in negative feelings, never hesitating to use the crudest of slurs. But if talk alone is the true measure of a man, Harry Truman – who habitually made derogatory remarks about Jews and whose home in Independence, Missouri, was off-limits to them – would have to be considered an anti-Semite of the first order. It`s a safe bet that those who complain the loudest about Nixon`s anti-Semitic statements say nary a word about Truman`s Jewish problem.

Nixon`s attitudes toward Jews, observes the historian Herbert Parmet in Richard Nixon and His America, "were not particular to Nixon but rather reflect those of his times and culture...Still, there is no evidence that anyone felt that he was being treated differently by Nixon because he was Jewish."

William Safire, a Nixon speechwriter prior to embarking on a career as a New York Times columnist, has written that Nixon was a man "whose hero as a lawyer...was Louis Brandeis; whose model of a strict constructionist Supreme Court justice was Felix Frankfurter; whose favorite writer of fiction was Herman Wouk; who, upon becoming president, named a German Jewish immigrant named Henry Kissinger to be his foremost foreign policy adviser and an Austrian Jewish immigrant named Arthur Burns to be his chief domestic counselor; who later placed one Jew, Herbert Stein, at the head of the Council of Economic Advisers, and another, Leonard Garment, at the head of his double-every-year commitment to the arts and humanities, and named another, Ed David, to be his chief science adviser....

According to those with firsthand knowledge, it was Nixon's stubborn insistence that propelled the massive arms transfer [to Israel], code-named Operation Nickel Grass.

Both Kissinger and Nixon wanted to do [the airlift]," said former CIA deputy director Vernon Walters, "but Nixon gave it the greater sense of urgency. He said, 'You get the stuff to Israel. Now. Now.'

Boyne, in his book The Two O`Clock War, describes a high-level White House meeting on October 9:

As preoccupied as he was with Watergate, Nixon came straight to the point, announcing that Israel must not lose the war. He ordered that the deliveries of supplies, including aircraft, be sped up and that Israel be told that it could freely expend all of its consumables – ammunition, spare parts, fuel, and so forth – in the certain knowledge that these would be completely replenished by the United States without any delay.

Alexander Haig, who at the time was White House chief of staff, writes in his memoir Inner Circles: As soon as the scope and pattern of Israeli battle losses emerged, Nixon ordered that all destroyed equipment be made up out of U.S. stockpiles, using the very best weapons America possessed....Whatever it takes, he told Kissinger...save Israel."

Herb, your own spin machine is out of control.

It was for no love of the Israeli's nor Jews that Nixon acted. It was for no other reason than to try and save his own "bacon."

You are in a delusionary fog everytime someone tries and sets you straight about the foulest and second most evil administration of the twentieth century, that of Richard Nixon. The release of the tapes in 2002 confirmed what most of us American Jews already knew about this foul creature, that he ranks amongst the most anti-semitic leaders this country has ever had. Even the shrub does not have this defect. So sad that you would embrace such a lame excuse for a president.

Fact is, Mr. Nixon was raised during a different time. That racist age is thankfully gone.

Yet in spite of his flaws, and he had many, Mr. Nixon did the single biggest thing in his power to save the largest number of Israelis possible.

Spin it all you want. Mr. Nixon saved Jewish lives. If you want to pile on a politician whose behaviour, not words, led to the death Jewish people, read about this democrat:

"In 1939, the State Department under Roosevelt did not allow a boat of Jews fleeing from the Nazis into the United States. When the passenger ship St. Louis approached the coast of Florida with nearly a thousand German Jews fleeing persecution by Hitler, Roosevelt did not respond to telegrams from passengers requesting asylum, and the State Department refused entry to the ship. Forced to return to Antwerp, many of the passengers eventually died in concentration camps."

P.S. I wouldn't pile on FDR given that situation, either. One must look at his overall stance toward the Israeli people.

"Mr. Nixon saved Jewish lives."

The argument is that he is racist, not genocidal. I have no doubt that he wanted to save Israel as an important ally in the Mideast, and through that must protect Israelies. It does NOT therefore infer (as you claim) that Nixon wasn't bigoted against Jews.

American Heritage Dictionary:
big·ot n. One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

We had a similar discussion earlier about Ann Coulter. Her comments about wanting to "perfect" Jews, though superficically benign, could not be reasonably read in any other way except as racist.

Try again, Spinmeister Herb.

From Herrbocrite:

"Mr. Nixon saved Jewish lives."

"The Israeli people had no greater friend than Richard Milhous Nixon."

OK, maybe, but what about non-Israeli Jews?

"(Nixon)...appears to have been a man obsessed with Jews, stewing in negative feelings, never hesitating to use the crudest of slurs."

So American Jews are an altogether different matter, right, Herbbocrite?

Good Gourd, you're such a tool.

Item #1.

Mr. Nixon had plenty of Jewish people in his cabinet.

Item #2.

Mr. Nixon was there for Israel during the Yom Kippur War.

Mr. Nixon DID THE RIGHT THING in spite of his own imperfections.

If you want to judge Mr. Nixon on your scale of perfection, then where's the outrage for the democrat Robert KKK Byrd's membership in the Klan?

Naw, leftists have always hated the anti-communist Richard Nixon, and because the left's views are also essentially socialist, that won't change how Mr. Nixon is viewed by liberals.

Has anyone notified you that the century changed a few years back?

Historically, Nixon looks better now only when he's compared to the current WPE. He's still a disgrace to 99% of Humanity (meaning people who are still alive).

Even before the 2002 tape release, The National Archives released on October 5, 1999, 445 hours of tapes recorded by President Richard Nixon in which he repeatedly lashes out against Jews and makes anti-Semitic remarks. Appearing to view "the Jews" as the root of all his problems, Nixon complained that Washington "is full of Jews" and that "most Jews are disloyal."

Nixon did believe that top aides Henry Kissinger, Leonard Garment and William Safire were exceptions, but he said to his chief of staff, H.R. Haldeman, "generally speaking you can't trust the bastards. They turn on you. Am I wrong or right?" Haldeman agreed. Nixon told Haldeman that the Jews needed to be brought under control by putting someone "in charge who is not Jewish" in key agencies.

After a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics was released showing that unemployment was rising, Nixon wanted to fire the agency's director, Julius Shiskin. He asked Charles Colson to investigate the ethnicity of officials at the Bureau. "They are all Jews?" Nixon asked when Colson gave him a list of names.

On another occasion, Nixon and Haldeman discussed Jewish penetration of the National Security Council staff. Nixon asked if Tony Lake, then an aide to Kissinger, was Jewish. Nixon thought he looked Jewish. Lake, who served as Clinton's National Security Adviser is not Jewish.

When a survey was released in 1971 showing that a majority of the supporters of antiwar demonstrations came from affluent neighborhoods in Washington, Nixon attributed the results to the Jews. "Bob," he told Haldeman, "there's a lot of Jews in the District, see...The gentiles have moved out.

"I'll take that as a win."

Item #1:

Of what?

Item #2.

Did you mean that I (me: MM) "won" something?

Really, people, is there much difference between the undynamic-duo of fellow evil dastardly black-hearts Nixon and Castro? They both rank at about the same place on the "Who gives a poop" list of current events. Are events of 50+ years ago on the top of anyone's (average Americans) concerns nowadays?

How often does anyone besides Herrbicide ruminate on those events of 50 years on a daily basis (unless that is their livlihood, history hobby or beause they have health and aging issues)?

Actually I just got the following off of Wiki, and If the guy didn't have a 'D' behind his name, he'd be (or he secretly IS) a hero to HerrB!

Voting record:

On occasion, Byrd disagreed with President Bill Clinton's policies. Byrd initially said that the impeachment proceedings against Clinton should be taken seriously and conducted completely.

Even though he voted against both articles of impeachment, he was the sole Democrat to vote for the censure of Clinton.[25]

He strongly opposed Clinton's 1993 efforts to allow gays to serve in the military and has also supported efforts to limit gay marriage.

However, he opposed the Federal Marriage Amendment, arguing that it was unnecessary because the states already had the power to ban gay marriages.[26] However, when the amendment came to the Senate floor he was one of the two Democratic Senators who voted in favor of the cloture motion.[27]

He also opposes affirmative action.

He also voiced praise for George W. Bush's nomination of Judge John Roberts to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court created by the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Likewise, Byrd supported the confirmation of Samuel Alito to replace retiring Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

Like most Democrats, however, Byrd opposes Bush's tax cuts and his proposals to change the Social Security program. He is pro-choice and voted against the first ban on partial birth abortions in 1995, but voted for the bill on subsequent occasions.

Byrd voted against Laci and Conner's Law, which strongly divided the supporters and opponents of legal abortion.

Byrd is opposed to the Flag Desecration Amendment, saying that, while he wants to protect the American flag, he believed that amending the constitution "is not the most expeditious way to protect this revered symbol of our Republic." In response to the amendment, Byrd has cosponsored S. 1370, a bill that prohibits destruction or desecration of the flag by anyone trying to incite violence or causing a breach of the peace. It also provides that anyone who steals, damages, or destroys a flag on federal property, whether a flag owned by the federal government or a private group or individual, can be imprisoned for up to two years, or can be fined up to $250,000, or both.[28]

In 2004, Byrd offered an amendment that would limit the personnel in Plan Colombia, but was defeated in the Senate.[29]

Byrd received a 65% vote rating from the League of Conservation Voters for his support of environmentally friendly legislation.[30].

In 2006, Byrd received 67% rating from the ACLU for supporting rights-related legislation.[32]

Yay! I win!

Merkin still has you seeing stars, eh? Yeah, a little nappy poo right there in the ring might do you some good. Before you try to get up, Andy was referring to this unvarnished bigotry from RMN:

July 3, 1971

Nixon: Well, listen, are they all Jews over there?

Colson: Every one of them. Well, a couple of exceptions.

Nixon: See my point?

Colson: You know goddamn well they're out to kill us.

Later that same day

Nixon: All right, I want a look at any sensitive areas around where Jews are involved, Bob. See, the Jews are all through the government, and we have got to get in those areas. We've got to get a man in charge who is not Jewish to control the Jewish … do you understand?

Haldeman: I sure do.

Nixon: The government is full of Jews. Second, most Jews are disloyal. You know what I mean? You have a [White House Counsel Leonard] Garment and a [National Security Adviser Henry] Kissinger and, frankly, a [White House speechwriter William] Safire, and, by God, they're exceptions. But Bob, generally speaking, you can't trust the bastards. They turn on you. Am I wrong or right?

Haldeman: Their whole orientation is against you. In this administration, anyway. And they are smart. They have the ability to do what they want to do—which—is to hurt us.

July 24, 1971

Nixon:The point that he did not get into that I want to know, Bob, how many were Jews? Out of the 23 in the BLS, would you get me that?

Haldeman: [White House deputy assistant] Alex [Butterfield] is getting it.

Nixon: There's a Jewish cabal, you know, running through this, working with people like [Federal Reserve Chairman Arthur F.] Burns and the rest. And they all—they all only talk to Jews. Now, but there it is. But there's the BLS staff. Now how the hell do you ever expect us to get anything from that staff, the raw data, let alone what the poor guys have to say [inaudible] that isn't gonna be loaded against us? You understand?

Salon

Lest I be accused of partisanship, how about the fellow that came before Nixon, LBJ? He certainly had an interesting private outlook on things too:

He was wiretapping opponents and receiving enormous illegal campaign contributions a quarter-century before Watergate. His racial attitudes were mixed up beyond any possibility of our untangling them cleanly now: Mr. Dallek quotes him defending the Supreme Court appointment of the very well-known Thurgood Marshall, rather than a black judge less identified with the civil rights cause, by saying to a staff member, "Son, when I appoint a nigger to the court, I want everyone to know he's a nigger."

NYT Book Review

Even King's black allies in the civil rights movement turned against him when on April 4, 1967 -- exactly one year before his death -- he became the most prominent American to attack the Government's war on Vietnam. At the time, the vast majority of Americans, including blacks, supported the war. The media establishment trashed King for being so uppity as to criticize U.S. foreign policy. The black leaders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the National Urban League said King had made "a serious tactical mistake."

Their fears that King's outspokenness would anger President Lyndon B. Johnson -- a champion of civil rights legislation -- were well founded; Johnson railed against "King, that goddamned nigger preacher." In a grotesque ejaculation of racist sexual paranoia, Johnson told King "that his criticism of the war had the same effect on Johnson as if he had discovered that King had raped his daughter."

In the spring of 1968, King was planning a Poor People's Campaign in Washington: "Protesters would engage in massive civil disobedience, tying up traffic, staging sit-ins in Congress and in government buildings and shutting down business in the capital." A bullet in the neck ended King's life days before the campaign was to begin.

NY Observer

Our Presidents said those words, and many more forgotten, buried, redacted, untold and left uncaptured by spinning 5" tapes. We ought to be disgusted by their base bigotry, not blinded by the oft touted things they did out of reluctant compromise rather than profound conviction.

To lighten it up -- and return to the original topic -- Jane Fonda has already endorsed a Presidential candidate in this election. She proudly made her choice clear to every American. If she switched to Obama, she is just a bandwagon hopper. :0)

"...is there much difference between the undynamic-duo of fellow evil dastardly black-hearts Nixon and Castro?"

Proof postive of how radical liberals have become.

Leftists refuse to see any difference between someone devoted to freedom and another who placed his own people in chains.
