I could understand them having a webcam to see the great live talent in the studio, but since 95% of Z100 is voice tracked, whats the point???

Oh goody, I can't wait to watch the loneley Board op picking his nose or watching internet porn on the company computer.

Probably because they'd rather waste their budget on installing and maintaining a Web-camera than hiring and paying some decent on-air talent?

(This just has "Cheap Channel written all over it......... ;o) *laughs*

Kisn-FM had a webcam back in 1999 at the 5th & Taylor studios and it drove us nuts! Steve began moving the camera off him and onto a Star Wars figurine which was sitting on top of a cabinet. I did the same thing. It's creepy being on camera constantly.

Well Cheap channel has nothing to worry about because it is a ghost town in the studios.

It seems to me that in the late 1990s, webcams were a lot cooler because of their novely. Art Bell had a webcam so that you could watch him smoking cigarettes while he did his show. There was even a lady by the name of Jennifer Ringley (the Jennicam girl) who ran a webcam at her apartment full-time and managed to sustain herself financially for a few years with revenues raised by selling "premium" subscriptions to the Jennicam site. Ten years later, the novelty has long ago worn off, and I am not aware of any really effective use of these cameras to add to listeners' experiencing of the show. If there were people in the studio, you would just see some folks wearing headphones and sitting behind mics. How useful is that?
