I went to college in Rochester (at RIT). What's the weather like over there? What other interesting happenings are going on on the radio dial? Have the people at WITR (89.7) figured out how to keep the station on the air full-time?

I was born in Rochester!! My dad worked for French's in the marketing department. We moved from there in 1960. I haven't been back since, except for 1 time when I went for a job interview with Harris in 1982. Don't remember too much about it other than they were building a highway at the end of our street.

That highway might have been "The Inner Loop." The original RIT campus was one of the things that had to be bulldozed so that this expressway could be built.

I just looked it up on MS Strips and Treats and it is Hwy 590. Our address was 140 Winstead Rd. Why on earth I can remember this I have no idea. It is near where Hwy 590 intersects Tryon Park.

Then that was not the Inner Loop. The Inner Loop is about three miles to the west of Tryon Park. According to Wikipedia, construction of the Inner Loop was completed in 1965, so I thought it was reasonable that by 1960 some of the first construction might have been underway.

Hey Roger, Is 102.7 simulcasting 990? Originally, the "Legends" monicker was used for a Nostalgia format on the AM frequency. If my memory is correct, 102.7 was previously a Christian station with the call letters WDCX. Crawford owned both.
