...and now the bad news. Jackson Armstrong, one of the fastest-talking disc jockeys of all time has passed away at age 63. http://www.johnrook.com/ This is not Portland Radio related but his show on KFI could be DXed in Portland nightly after sunset back in the day.

The above aircheck from KFI (right click and download) is dated 2-29-80.

A lengthy obit is posted at the Rollye James website.

I use to DX Jack Armstrong all the time when he was on KFI. Here's Jack on 10Q from 1978.

Steve, gotta love that rock jock news at the start. There is a dying art. Loved 10Q...unfortunately a short-lived radio station at the end of the AM era.

Found this entertaining video of Jack...

I programmed WIFE - Indianapolis (post-Burden) from 8/76-11/76...a short stint, prior to launching KYYX for Pat O'Day in Seattle.

Jackson Armstrong was PM Drive at WIFE. He was there, when I got there. Amazing talent. Tremendous focus. He was one-of-a-kind.

Isn't that the marketing position of every successful product? UNIQUE...DIFFERENT...BETTER!!!

No poo-poo intended gang.

I just hate the term "In the day."

To each his own, I guess. Sad to see anlother legend pass from our existance, that's for sure.
