Apparently no one else has mentioned it so I will: KPOJ deserves mad props for carrying Barack Obama's entire speech at Memorial Coliseum live on Friday morning. No cut-ins, no commercials, just occasional five-second ID's that didn't step on the speakers. Nothing was skipped - they even broadcast the introduction by Bill Richardson. Bravo! (I trust they'll do the same for Clinton and McCain if/when they come to town.)

KPOJ has an obvious bias, so I wouldn't expect them to carry a McCain speech in Portland, anymore than I'd expect KPAM to carry a Clinton speech.

Nope.

Since the Obama speech is considered a "news event," the equal time rule doesn't apply. See:

On the other hand, if KPOJ had interviewed Obama, then the equal time rule would apply.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for any of the tv stations going live with McCains speech as they did for Obamas speech, either. They probably would for Clinton. If she only 1/2 or 1/4 filled the Coliseum, they might not.

There's talk Hillary is going to bring Bill to Oregon in the next few weeks. The two of them together would fill the Coliseum. I would go for sure; I've seen her 2X but never Bill.
