I thought that would get your attention! Since the A to Z weekend ended, Kool has increased the amount of 60s songs. It's up to about 6 an hour whereas they were playing 2 or 3 before. I also don't notice anything from the 80s. I know it's still early and could just be something they're doing for the weekend but it makes you wonder. We'll see. Actually, I ran across this quite by accident while looking for one of their songs on Yes.com. Also, I meant to mention that they finally have someone separate in middays as opposed to John Williams or Scott Tom, someone named Heidi. |

To be completely honest, I think Kool is sounding Really good lately and im actually shocked that Cheap Channel is actually putting some effort into that station. They are getting some LIVE dayparts on the station. Infact I even heard Scott Tom Broadcast live from Kells on St. Patricks day and it sounded REALLY GOOD! |

Heidi May must be VT'd from Seattle. She does middays at Clear Channel's KJR-FM. |

I could have sworn I just heard a promo from Khits, where they said the greatest hits of the 60's and 70's. No 80's |

Kool now promos as the "greatest hits of the 60s and 70s". I've heard exactly ONE 80s song since the change and that one hardly counts: They have an ongoing promotion to give away tickets to the Bruce Springsteen concert on March 28th so when you hear a Springsteen song, you call in to get the tickets. They now promote Motown, Rock, Soul and Pop but no longer mention Disco. There seems to be very little late 70s. I expect further evolving after the concert is over. It's interesting that they aired their entire playlist over the weekend and then completely changed the playlist! With the change in direction, maybe Stoner can get a job there! |

I am trying to see the big picture and make some sense out of it: Entercom Portland decides that FM signals are too valuable to waste on aging Baby Boomers, so they move "KISN" to AM. Then, they decide that AM and Baby Boomers are a lost cause, so they sell their one AM station and blow up the "KISN" format. Now, the tables are turned, and Clear Channel is scrambling to pull those same oldies-listening Baby Boomers away from CBS radio. Gen-X ers, on the other hand, get an all dance hits station ( Movin' 107.5 ) and a station with a Frankenstein creation of a playlist that arrogantly prides itself on on-air trainwrecks ( Charlie 97.1 ). |

IF Kool and Charlie are SMART, they will start adding more live air talent to the station. Both stations have potential but are not living up to it. You have to spend money to make money! |

Thats where your wrong Justin.. they still can make money without spending it! Plus, Do you know how much these CEO's make?? Ill tell ya. They make in 10 mins. what a jock makes in a year so instead of being decent people and cutting there salaries from 30 million to 10 million they cut jobs, voice track, etc. Im waiting for the day when people from India and China voice track. The good news is there is a spot in hell, next to Bush and Cheney, waiting for there greedy a$$Es!! |

Good points Cheddardog, But isn't is pointless to have a new station on 105.9 every year. How do you ever make money with low ratings??? You can't. What kind of advertiser spends money on a crappy radio station that has few listeners and horrible ratings???? Maybe if Cheap Channel spent some money on that dial instead of putting on a half assed product they would get high ratings and make more money!! LOOK at k-hits Live jocks and AWESOME RATINGS! Mark my words, KOOL WILL NEVER get the ratings that K-hits is. I feel bad for Scott Tom, he is an awesome jock who is trying to get Kool off the ground, BUT NEVER WILL because he doesn't have the backing of Cheap Channel. As an advertiser I would Never go near Movin 1075 or Kool 1059 because the stations can't ever get ratings. And its too bad because there are awesome peoplew working for those stations who are beating their heads against a wall with no support from their own company. CBS has PUT NOTHING INTO MOVIN 107.5 ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! No wonder that station can't get ratings, when your own company doesn't have your back you are doomed! Cheap Channel has done nothing with KOOL absolutely NOTHING, They have spent ZERO on advertising Zero on marketing, and very little on air talent. You're average person doesn't even know that Kool even exsists because the dial keeps flipping every 2 years, nobody is taking it seriously. How do you build loyalty when your format keeps flipping every 2 years??? YOU DON'T! |

In checking Yes.com, it appears that Kool has a regular rotation: 1 60s song, 1 70s, 1 60s, 2 70s and repeat. The vast majority seems to be before the mid-70s. This is pretty close to an Oldies station without the first decade. |

I hate to be picky or anything but am a little surprised they haven't removed the "3 Decades of Kool Music" stinger! |

I paid another visit to Yes.com and discovered that while 40% of Kool songs are 60s, a list of the top songs looks quite different. The entire top 10 is 60s! Also, 17 of the top 20 and 23 of the top 30 are from the 60s! I'm not quite sure what this means but it's interesting. |
