PORTLAND, Ore. - Bill Richardson, the nation's only Hispanic governor, threw his support behind Barack Obama for president Friday, delivering one of the most coveted and tightly held endorsements in the race for the Democratic nomination.

The New Mexico governor joined Obama at spirited rally Friday and said the Illinois senator demonstrated his leadership abilities this week with his speech on race. "You are a once-in-a-lifetime leader," the governor said from the stage. "Above all, you will be a president who brings this nation together."

I think Gov Richarson would make a fine running mate for Obama. In fact, a pull of the archives might prove I predicted this many months ago.

I think Obama would need a white guy on the ticket, actually.

Hey, Obama is as much white as he is black, so Richardson would work out well to bring on the brown vote.

I really like Richardson but I agree that a guy like Dodd might be a better ticket to get Obama into the White House.

Maybe Richardson would get a key cabinet position.

An Obama/Richardson ticket thus far is the most appealing to me. I would have real problems if Hillary decided to take a backseat to Obama. But then again I don't think that would happen even if hell froze over. Stranger things have happened though.

How about Obama/Pelosi?

That would most certainly cause cardiac arrest for many neo-con talk show hosts.

I don't think I'd be all that happy if Pelosi was the VP nominee.

I would love it, it would add 5 percentage points to Sen McCains lead.

Obama could pick the most liberal VP he could find and still beat warmonger McCain.

I like Dodd more, but he might do more good as house leader. The guy has shown enough backbone to warrant that, at least.

What makes for a good VP?

Prediction for post conventions:
Obama/Richardson
vs
McCain/Lieberman
vs
Nader/Ventura

Yeah I will admit that the Nader/Ventura ticket is out there but would make for some very interesting VP debates.

McCain/Lieberman

I could not think of a less appealing ticket...which actually makes sense that they'd offer it. The sheer lack of inspiration would be daunting to me.

This has me thinking, who should McCain put on the ticket to make it at least interesting for the GOP to get excited and give the dem's something to think about.

Well that sure WOULD be interesting seeing as how, from most reports, Colin Powell was one of the first major players to go " Uh - yeah - Bush isn't going to get this job done. I'm outta here." And with McCain seeming all too eager to perpetuate Bush's myths, I would have a hard time seeing Powell in a Vice Presidential role for McCain.

Powell/McCain would have had a better chance. Too late now though.

Speaking of Colin Powell, don't miss Frontline Mon and Tues night on that lib network PBS. A report on Bush's BS war.
