Rolling Stone is irrelevant. Has been since Al Gore invented the internet.

But this makes me happy to see Clinton loose something yet again.

Rolling Stone is not irrelevant. I read it. I know. I bit the 100 dollar bullet and got a lifetime subscription.

However, the cover was a tad over the top. As soon as I saw it, I laughed. It certainly left no question as to whom they would be backing.

quote:

In a March 9, 1999 interview on CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, Gore stated, "During my service in the United States Congress I took the initiative in creating the internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."[106] This statement was often misquoted by media outlets and led to the creation of a widely spread urban legend that Gore claimed to have "invented the Internet."[107]

In response to the controversy, Cerf and Kahn argued that, "We don't think, as some people have argued, that Gore intended to claim he 'invented' the Internet. Moreover, there is no question in our minds that while serving as Senator, Gore's initiatives had a significant and beneficial effect on the still-evolving Internet."[108]

He never said he invented it but did say he took the initiative in creating it.

I think it's just all in your own personal interpretation. I see it as him taking the initiative moving through legislation which greatly helped in creating the internet. I don't think he meant that he himself personally created it. Don't get me wrong I don't care for Gore much but that is how I read it. Of course others will see it differently though! It's just how you want to spin it!

"I don't think he meant that he himself personally created it."

And that's my point.
With this wonderful research tool at our disposal why post a misleading falsehood unless:

1. The poster (Mc74 in this case) is too fucking lazy to look it up.

2. He's more interested in perpetuation a falsehood because if fits his narrow little view of the world.

Television, Radio, and Print media are all the same. Are you gonna watch, listen, or read something from a source whose opinions you do not agree with or are you gonna pick a source that you agree with. Myself, I only trust TMZ, STAR, and the National Enquirer! News that Matters! They say on the next moon landing they are gonna bring back that B-52's flight recorder that crashed up there.

Rolling Stone wants to sell subscriptions so they can charge top buck for advertising. It's not trying to be anything more than entertaining, like TV news.

Based on the posts Mc74 made in this thread and elsewhere, a reasonable person will conclude that Mc74 is making himself irrelevant.
