When's the last time you're heard a charity announce it had enough money.

This also made our morning show.

Thanks for the link Chris. BTW, is your show streamed? I'd love to give it a listen.

Edselehr. Not streamed at this time. Small market so the budget is tight. I've been encouraging the station to work out a barter agreement with a local internet company. Free banners on the web site along with mentions on the air. But so far a no go.

If something should happen I'll let you know. They do stream some local sporting events.

What's the deal with iTunes podcast service?

Is that a pay to place thing, or what?

I'm really starting to like using it. Plug in the pod, and while it charges up, shows of various kinds get loaded for listening when the mood strikes later.

IMHO, a great alternative to just streaming.

(And I would listen too --you've said enough to tell us it's highly likely to be catchy!)

This charity has gotten alot of mainstream publicity in the last year is that a reason why they are not looking at this time for more donations?

With the situation in this country is it possible to do the same here but in reverse IE asking foreign countries with wealth to contribute/donate for American "mini" loans rather than micro loans. There are literally millions of Americans who have the American Entreprenurial spirit but lack the resources to fund there dreams for the future. I doubt it would work as successfully as the current Kiva model but it is something to ponder.

"There are literally millions of Americans who have the American Entreprenurial spirit but lack the resources to fund there dreams for the future. "

Shyguy we brought up that very point in our morning show. How would that look and shake down in America.

I am always glad to see a charity buried in blessings.

The foreign investment angle is a really great idea guys! After all, it has been quite successful for generations of immigrant families. One could call it the "insourcing" of the American dream.

Chris, definitely let me know if a podcast is in the works. :0)

...coupla ideas that hit me. Of course, they are worth exactly what you think they are :-)

You could mention to that PD ads can run in the podcast. No brainer to just insert them into the podcast version of the show. Might help with the barter thing, particularly if the podcast is promoted however lightly.

Since it's all done before-hand, maybe there is some local ad potential, or at the least some framing elements that put the show in context for non-regular / non-local listeners.

Intro, exit and transition pieces, done once, more or less prep it should audience grow somehow. Does not matter so much what they are, just that they are short, frame up it's a Oregon Coast radio program, brought to you by...

That way, from the first podcast on, the expectations are set. Who knows, people might like the thing and from there lots can be done.

I've got a few talk shows, and a music magazine or two subscribed. It keeps the two most recent segments. I'll listen when I get a chance, and don't worry about keeping them, or consuming all of them.

Back on topic: IMHO, this is a huge need right now. Lots of good people being outsourced. What better way to compensate for that is there, besides fixing the bigger problems.

I think that might take a while, so... let markets do what markets do.

Chris I visited Kiva yesterday and they seem to be back in business although not nearly with as many options as before I think there were a couple hundred individuals/groups looking for micro loans.

I had to laugh a bit at the featured person looking for a micro loan he was from Tazikstan. A teacher who's family had a farm and was looking for a milking cow. That is not the funny part.

It has always been my belief (please correct me if I am wrong please!) that leather goods were a luxury item and were fairly expensive to own. Yet this guy was wearing an empressive leather looking black jacket (ok it could have been pleather).

That just seems to me that this individual is not someone I would invest in because if indeed it was real leather that is a luxury and not a neccessity.
