I just noticed that LaRog Jewelers is all boarded up on 82nd and Foster. I understand they moved to Clackamas Town Center. I didn't think I'd ever see the day! I thought they'd be on that corner forever.

It's been gone for a while. There were several articles in various newspapers when it happened a few months ago.
BTW, they're finally redeveloping the site - given the fact the property is the former home of both LaRog's and Tom Peterson's, their previous advertising campaigns alone are probably enough to get longtime Portlanders to the location effortlessly.

I wonder if the owners of the location were waiting for the PDC to put the area into the Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Area, so they could use the property tax dollars that should be going to city, county, school district, Metro, and whatever other programs that serve everyone as a whole... NOT their own self-interests!

Thanks for the feedback! I don't think it's part of Lents, even though Oliver P. Lent is buried on 82nd and Holgate. I believe it's the Manhattan district.

The Ducks have bad looking uniforms though.

Yeah, that Tom Peterson "HEYYYYYYYY!" is a classic. Can you imagine any other local sales personality getting away with that?

Well, there is a "Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Area."
http://pdc.us/ura/lents.asp
There's a project map that doesn't appear to have been updated for a while, however it doesn't indicate the land is receiving any tax subsidies for redevelopment. If this is true, then I stand corrected.

"I don't think it's part of Lents...I believe it's the Manhattan district."

@ Semoochie: Have never heard reference to Manhattan in that vicinity. That district was known as Marysville, however.

Manhattan Music used to be a couple of blocks west and I believe Manhattan Glass is still on the other side of 82nd Avenue! That puts them right in the middle of Manhattan!
