KGW went from talk to the KINK simulcast...so it might have been the Talk Station anthem....

I E-Mailed my buddy Jim Maass who was at KGW at the time of the format switch to see if he remembered anything. Turns out Jim "The Big Ragu" Maass was KGW Radio's last Disc Jockey on the air July 31, 1989 before the switch to "AM 620, The Talk Station". Turi Ryder began that morning at 6:00am. Here's what else Jim had to say: I think the song was something fitting with the new and upcoming format. A PD in Milwaukee Wisconsin by the name of Steve Wexler might know. He was the new talk PD then, and he and Kenn Brown the GM were standing right there." JM

More interesting might be the last song heard on 62KGW before it became The Talk Station.

Not to hijack this thread but back when I was doing afternoons on 1410 KCNR I did a tease for Carolyn Meyers for the 4:55pm top of the hour news...something like.."Carolyn Meyers up next with a KCNR news update." Sometimes she had the news on a cart or did it live. As my song was beginning to wind down I couldn't find Carolyn. So I went to the front desk and asked if anyone had seen her. The receptionist apologized to me in not letting me know she had been let go earlier in the day. I told the receptionist that it's ironic that the song that I was currently playing leading into her "supposed newscast" was Hall and Oats "She's Gone."

The real question is, did they "pay the devil to replace her?"
