Give this guy a medal posthumously for saving the taxpayers lots of money for not having to support him in jail!

I guess I don't have your stomach concerning someone taking his or her own life.

Even the worst offenders in our society can still make changes and be beneficial. The bible is filled with people who committed murder that God was able to use.

It saddens me that you find this worth any discussion at all. It's a sad story in all aspects.

"The bible is filled with..."

Oh brother...

Yea,it's sad that he took his own life.
It's also sad that he ruined the life of an innocent child.

Child molesters get NO mercy in my book. NONE.

Well then, off with his head! Iran is the place for you Monkeyboy.

.............

Its likely the jumper was abused as a child and the victious cycle was repeating itself. Its not an excuse, but it underlines the point of our society spending a biblical-sized amount of time and dollars on issues such as "unborn babies" when there are REAL WORLD problems that are more worthy of this attention.

We are in dire need of fair solutions to deal with child molesters who have served their time.

Child molesters never change. They should be locked up forever. I shed no tears for the jerk who took his own life.

Nobody liked child molestors. Even the hardest criminals respect the boundary of kids. Everybody was a kid, we all know the limits and blind trust that comes with that.

This guy violated that. Being locked up, with no where to go with that on his head is ugly. IMHO, the jump is rational.

Never happy to see it, but I can't blame him one bit.

In no way am I giving child molesters a free pass. I was merely pointing out that even the worst a society has could in some cases change for the better.

There is a victim in this case. The child. No doubt case closed. My sister works with victims of child abuse. I have a neighbor who works with young boys and men who have been convicted of child abuse.

What I felt from the article and from Skybill was a simple lack of compassion and then joy in the death of person taking their own life. That is disturbing to me. Just as disturbing as child molestation.

I was using the biblical reference merely as a case in point. Not trying to preach at anyone.

Skep has a point. This is not normal behavior and is a result of some sort of "bad past" that this person probably had no control over.

"bad past" does not justify a bad future. A lot of sexually abused children do not go on to be abusers and the fact that those that do "had no control over" their behavior is no excuse.

What I find disturbing--not knowing the contents of the second suicide note--is the timing of this guy's suicide. He had spent two years in prison, and it was not until he found out that he would be spending more time in prison that he committed suicide. To me, this and the first note suggest that the motivation for killing himself was to get out of having to spend more time behind bars; it was not remorse over the child molestation.

I'm not saying it JUSTIFIES the behavior. However, it's a simpleton's approach to just read the headline rather than looking deeper at WHY people do this. The WHY is not because they are inherently BAD, it is because there is something WRONG with them that may not be of their doing.

Just like when a kid is acting out at school, there are deeper reasons for the misbehavior than the kid just wanting to misbehave.

Again, we're not going to stop child molesters every time one gets sent to the pokey or jumps off a building.

We've got to address why this is happening and pervent someone from molesting in the first place.

There's nothing to celebrate if there are others waiting in the wings.

My only concern is the poor janitor that had to clean up the mess.

Good Riddance. Wish more of them perverts would do the same.

The sad thing is, the vast majority of child molesters are genetically wired to do this kind of stuff. They KNOW it's wrong, but they somehow can't stop themselves.

Anyone who molests children ... well, hell is too good for them, IMHO. That said, again, they're acting on impulses. Do you think anyone in their right mind would CHOOSE to do something like this?!

If that was my child, It would probaly have been a good thing that the molester killed himself because If he didn't, I would have killed him myself. I don't put up with any of that crap, never have, never will. I don't care if they are acting on impulses and have no control, thats NOT an excuse for molesting a kid.
I think the state is to blame for sending these molesters to jail and not rehab centers. What is jail going to do???? Absolutely nothing, when they get back out, they will continue to do it again. These are some sick bastards who really have no use in our society, All they are doing is DESTROYING the lives of poor innocent children who will be scarred for LIFE!
