At about 4pm today, the transmitter building housing the KDCQ x-mitter and several translators was completely destroyed by a fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Thanks for all the support we are recieving here at the station and the good words from our broadcasting friends. It is amazing how quickly word spreads in the broadcasting community and how quickly help is offered.

Thanks again!

Nope, we will be off for several days while we install a temp site.

But, we are lucky to have one of the state's top Engineers.

Bummer. Hopefully you can get back on soon with a STA.

With all those religious translators off the air at the same time, some listeners may think the "rapture" occurred and they were left behind. (Maybe they should be getting their Christian radio from live & local KYTT instead.)

The Coos Bay/North Bend translators for KTEE, KJMX and Power 107 were also lost. :-(

5 Stations and 3 translators and a whole bunch of other orgs and agencies. Ambulance company, Taxi company, I think some PD and Sheriff too.

KDCQ was the only FM x-mitter on the site. The reason the other stations are down was that site is their hop to their x-mitters.

DAN MULLIN- I saw you at the auction, so you have at least that alibi.

You can literally count the runs of Heliax' and tell that the site was crowded for the apparent size of that building.

Nice panel of pictures. Not much left to salvage it looks like. Is that the antenna farm about a mile SW of downtown Coos Bay?
