That's great Herb, but you should know that Chuck Hagel and Richard Lugar are considered RINO's by the conservative base. Especially Hagel who is against the war in Iraq.

At least Mr. Obama appears to be attempting to reach across the aisle. That sends a very powerful message. Don't expect a Mrs. Clinton cabinet to consider doing the same, or even many republican ones.

Senators know that it is in their best interest to reach across the aisle. Bush never learned that lesson, hence a hosed country.

I've touted this book here before.
But by far the best book I read last year was "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

This book is about the unlikely Presidency of Abraham Lincoln, and how he populated his cabinet with his political opponents.
Contrast the success of Lincoln's Presidency with the current Administartion's intolerance of any opposing view.
I can't find where now, but I had heard an interview with Obama where he stated that this was the book he intended to take with him to the Whitehouse.
That was when I knew who I would support.

Mr. Cohen. Although liberal, he was a republican.
But again, don't expect Mrs. Clinton to do the same. Unlike her opportunist husband, she is a true believer.
