I'll miss Romie and will go and find him. But I gotta admit that as a longtime listener, some things were starting to grind...the Smackoff-type callers with the takes that supposedly didn't suck...actually did. The butt-kissing, bandwagon interviews with winning athletes on a roll...the self-congratulation after an interview was done...got pretty damn old. I think Rome himself is funny as hell, and extremely insightful. It's the stuff he junks his show up with that makes me go wandering. To Emerson, or the whole world of XM.

Dan Patrick is a total blowhard. Very uninteresting radio. He is so uncompelling. The guys at KFXX think they are creating a rocket ship with what they are doing and when it comes right down to it, they really don't need a PD, since most everything is network anyway. The departing PD will be working with one of the most successfull Sports radio PDs when he goes to DC. Bruce Gilbert should be able to show him how its done. As for KFXX they are ripe for the kill if someone wants to go for it. Just have to have the promotion behind any type of venture.

Is Jammin really changing format? That explains the promo I heard on Z100 this morning. It said something about Z-SPN and how they were giving away sports tickets this weekend since someone on FM needs to pay attention to sports. Now hearing about Jammin flipping - it makes it even funnier.

I just checked the 12+ ratings for the top 30 markets and can't say that Sports on FM is necessarily the coming thing! It seems to be working in Dallas, where there are competing FMs. In Boston, the FM is split off from the AM but the AM gets most of the rating. In fact, the AM is #3 and the FM has half of a share! In Detroit, splitting up does only so-so and a simulcast in St Louis is near the bottom! Those are the only FMs in the top 30 markets that are on that format. To sum up, Dallas looks promising but the rest are pretty much a no show.

while i think a 2nd sports station in this market, if done right, could be a "fan-killer", i wonder if it will really happen like this. That being said, if Paul Allen commited moving the Blazers and its programming to a new "all-sports 95.5"...that would be a decent start. all in all,i'll beleive it when i see it, but its still damn funny how upset the resident Prime Time Sports Host is getting, calling specualtion gossip and generally proving himself to be someone who needs to enjoy his job while he still has it....
