WASHINGTON — Barack Obama says his two daughters are fans of Hannah Montana and Beyonce, but think anything to do with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton is “yuck.”

The Democratic presidential contender told celebrity magazine Us Weekly that his daughters, Malia, 9, and Sasha, 6, got to meet Beyonce backstage at a concert and “they just love her to death.”

“They’re pretty down on Britney and Paris and all of that. They think that’s very ‘yuck,”‘ he said.

As for his wife, Michelle, Obama said she has a star crush on Stevie Wonder.

“I’ve been teasing her because Stevie fell off the stage at one of our events,” Obama said. “I said to her, ‘This is your favorite performer, and you push him off the stage?’ Fortunately, he was OK.”

The Illinois senator described himself as a “pretty cool” dad who tries not to embarrass his daughters even when he’s dancing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” as he did in October.

Though campaigning keeps him away from his family, Obama hasn’t skipped a parent-teacher conference.

“He did miss one of Sasha’s dance recitals in December and was broken up about it,” Michelle Obama told the magazine. “No one wants to miss 20 6-year-olds in red cowboy hats tapping to ‘These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.”‘

Obama’s interview with the magazine hit newstands Friday.

The lives of these daughters are going to drastically change when Obama becomes the next president. I think it would be VERY hard for those daughters. I could never imagine growing up with a father who is one of the most beloved and hated person on the planet.
As far as the girls taste on music, they are smart girls.

Meh, IMO Hannah Montana sounds like everyone else, and Beyonce is one of the better artists in a genre I can't personally stand.
When I was their ages (granted, I was a boy), I had no clue who any of the popular music artists were. I remember asking my mom who Van Halen was the first time I ever saw "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure!"

Are you talkin' bout the trashy Bushy twins and their father (our most "hated" Resident ever)? They're a real piece of work, and if not for the media blackout, I assume they'd be right up there in Brittney-Nicole-Lindsey tabloid exploits: drugs alcohol, car wrecks, etc.

The Obabma girls would probably be a breath of fresh air.

The trashy Bush twins are not kids, they are young adults who don't act like it. They have left themselves wide open to being made fun of, like when they told dirty jokes at the last Republican convention in front of a bunch of conservatives as their grandmother was waving them off. They didn't seem fazed by Barbara's negative gestures, which made them look even more embarrassing and clueless.

The media blackout Mrs M speaks of is true. GW told the media that any outlet reporting on the twins arrests and very public substance abuse would no longer have access to the Whitehouse.

The Barbara Walters special preceding the Oscars was very telling about who exactly Hannah Montana is! I highly doubt she will be able to avoid the Disney curse that has consumed so many of the former Disney female talent.

So they told dirty jokes to a bunch of uptight Ahole republicans. Big deal.
