This Obit was in The Oregonian yesterday for Ken Ford:

________________________________________________________________
A service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday Feb. 29 2008, in Willamette National Cemetery for Kenneth Loren Ford, who died Feb. 21 at age 80.

Kenneth Loren Ford was born Jan. 29, 1928, in Chehalis, Wash. During World War II, he served in the Army in the Philippines. He lived in Lewiston, Idaho, before moving to Vancouver in about 1966. He rode broncos in a rodeo, was a disc jockey for KVAN in Vancouver and more recently was a service manager and mechanic for several auto dealerships. In about 1966, he married Martha Israel.

Survivors include his wife; sons John and Bill; daughters, Jeanne Pottratz, Sandy Farmer and Ruth Miller; bother, Ray; sister, Betty; eight grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Davies.
________________________________________________________________
If Ken was at KVAN in 1966 this would have been during the Jazz/Easy Listening period before the format switch to Progressive/Underground, the first of August 1968.

Would that have been around the time when Willie Nelson was a DJ there?

Herb: Here's additional detail from Roger Hart. He says KVAN changed to a Rock & Roll format in January 1958 and that Bill Howlett was their during the format change. Studios were still in Vancouver at 6th & Main so that's where Willie did his show. Roger remembers all this because he began on KVAN that January.

I seriously hope Roger writes a book. I'll buy it and try to get his autograph at the same time.
