Best Male Poster - Tie Craig Adams & Missing_kskd Best Female Poster - Teri Danner Best Individual Post - 1) Roger's post, dated 2/11/08 11:32 AM in the thread "Clear Channel - As if things weren't bad enough" 2) Cumulative award for various posts from Herb where he explains doctrinal details of his faith. Though I don't agree with these doctrines, I admire his thoroughness. He knows what he believes. Best Thread - Towers & Such Worst Thread - djfrresh (All posts on this thread were off topic!!) Most Consistently High-Quality Poster - Craig Adams Most Consisently Off-Topic Poster - Djfrresh Most Argumentative Poster - DigitalDextor Least Intelligible Poster - Djfrresh Biggest Ass-Kisser - Herb for his praise of Eve Fuller's on-air persona. Biggest Sense Of Humour - The "old" 62kgw for his descriptions of various technical issues. (Example-A change to the audio processor settings at KKSN 910 triggered a comment from 62kgw that asking Dave "Records" Stone to do his show with the station's new sound was like "asking Michael Jordan to play basketball with a Nerf ball.") Biggest Pedant - Dilemma Poorest Loser - Wayne Forum Deathmatch Fighters - Tie Reinstatepete & DigitalDextor / 62kgw & Kent Randles Would it be out of line for me to suggest some additional award categories?

OK--some of the bonus awards that I was considering were: * Top luddite * Top "those were the days" nostalgia poster * Top broadcast industry critic * Top proponent of current industry policies * Top radio insider poster (to qualify for this, the person has to be currently employed with a terrestrial broadcast operation) * Out-of-town person most unlikely to participate in a Portland-centric message board * Person most likely to be drunk while posting (no, this is not me today).

Best Individual Post - Jeff Clarke describing working as a security guard at a sewage treatment plant. Best Thread - Any history thread started by Craig. Top proponent of current industry policies - Nobody I can think of. However, when it comes to short playlists or the accuracy of Arbitron, Tdanner is right there. Best Male Poster - Others already mentioned, plus Semoochie, who has been here from the beginning of the radio forum. Best Radio History Poster - The obvious ones already mentioned, plus Jimbo.

Top luddite - Pocketradio has gotten banned from several boards for trolling against IBOC. Top radio insider poster - Eastwood comes to mind, but since he is anonymous we don''t know for sure about his current employment status. Most insiders who do use their real names post infrequently and don't dare give away much inside info.

Alfredo, Randy-- http://hdradiofarce.blogspot.com/ More of the same repetitive copy & paste quotes and links, just on a different server. As usual almost nothing on the page is You-Know-Who's own writing. Yep; pocketradio wins this award fair & square! I was afraid that I might get nominated for my DTV boycott, but I guess that wasn't good enough. To be honest, my take is that there a lot marketing guy B.S. out there, and that is just the world that we live in. I want to approach the issue from a scientific/engineering angle to cut through the marketing B.S. to find out the truth! How does product X or technology Y perform? What are the costs? Do the pros outweigh the cons (and what are appropriate metrics to use)? The problem with "pocketradio" and other similar people is that they come off as dogmatic, rather than as reasoned skeptics. These people are also called ideologues, and I feel like I've run across too damn many of them.

I haven't posted in several months, but I check in every day. This has been a fun thread to watch. I have been busy starting a new company, and dealing with some of my son's pre-transplant tests. "How's your son???" Thanks for asking. Actually, he's in great shape, the best he's been for years. Problem is keeping him that way. His vein access for IV feeding is shot and if anything happens, and he starts to get into nutritional trouble, we won't be able to turn him around and save him. That brings him to an intestinal transplant, or possibly a bowel lengthening procedure. We're not sure what yet.

Dean you and your family obviously are not out of the water yet but as a transplant recipent myself I can sympathize with the stress, anxiety, and fear you are going through. How old is your son? Does he have friends or others aside from family that he can communicate his thoughts with? My transplant was minor in comparision but I understand all the motions you and your family are forced to go through.

He's 44 and developmentally disabled so all of the care and decisions fall on us. We've lived with the issues for years so it's a bit more routine than if it were something out of the blue. You may know that intestinal transplants are the most difficult of all to do and make work. Fortunately, we live about 15 minutes from the leading intestinal transplant hospital in the U.S., and only one of four in the U.S. able to do them. At least we don't have the grueling experience of having to travel on top of the other issues involved with a transplant. We're hopeful of avoiding one with the bowel lengthening procedure, but don't know yet if that's even possible with him. We see the surgeon that does it on March 11.

I guess I didn't fully answer your questions Shyguy, and I certainly appreciate your interest. He communicates pretty fully with us and has indicated repeatedly that he wants to go ahead with it. We have tried to let him know the risks by explaining that if four people have this transplant, one will die from it and that one might be him. He still wants to go ahead.
