OK PDX radio friends its time to come clean.
Its time to admit that you actually bought a copy of "time love and tenderness" By Michael Bolton back in th early 90's. Just admit that you had Wilson Philips on tape back in the day.
Its ok, we will not make fun of you. Even though you had the cassette single of "ice ice baby" by Vanilla ice, does not mean we will think any less of you.
Admitting is the first step to recovery, so here is some of my most embarrassing albums that I actually bought back in the day (Gulp)

Debbie Gibson "out of the blue" - Hey I was young and naive, I didn't know any better.

Milli Vanilli "girl you know its true"- You know that album is actually not that bad!

Bad English "When I see you smile"- Ok , now that is just plain wrong, what the hell was I thinking buying that piece of crap!

What are your most embarrassing albums you have ever owned! Please be honest.

I like the Milli Vanilli album. Way ahead of it's time and very well produced.

Let me think about some of the worst for a bit.

This is not cool. I was a club jock for many years and absorbed too many crappy remixes and cds. ( Yet will I throw them away? No. I have no good explanation ).

Put it this way - None of my country music CDs ever see the light of day. They make me sick.

Come on CJ, there has to be one or two cd's that YOU have purchased in your lifetime that you would NEVER admit. Well, know is the time to come clean! Maybe its an album that you still actually listen to(when nobody is around) We need the Title of the album and the band name.

Alright, I was about 12 when I bought a New Kids On The Block cassette tape. Everyone stop posting and crown me the winner now. :-)

Hanson!

Bought it on what I now know to be a lame joke recommendation.

Couldn't give that turd away. It's a coaster somewhere now...

OH DUDE! I got it.

Wham - Music From The Edge Of Heaven.

Now admittedly, buying it in it's day wasn't the sin. The fact that I still play a couple cuts off of it on my station makes me a bit sheepish.

In fact...since we're talking music...

It'll be a Wham-a-rama!

I was a HUGE Men At Work fan back in the early '80s ... I still have their tapes somewhere.

Does that qualify?

Embarassing? Hmmm...

I can think of many records that I am glad I did not buy. Like say, Samantha Fox, who for a time had the most famous torpedoes in the British fleet. Or, the New Monkees -- I wish I were kidding.

On the other hand, I did waste money on Cutting Crew. I'd say that Shane is the winner so far. :o)

There is no penalty for being open minded. :0)

After all, I am a big fan of Singapore pop star Rita Chao, the East German singer Ina Martell, and an American act, Half Japanese.

Years ago, I was volunteering at a university radio station. Ocassionally, we would clean out the incoming bin of stuff that just sat there because nobody wanted to review it for addition to the music library. On several ocassions, I took the reject CDs home, instead of letting them get smashed or put in the trash. I'm glad that I didn't have to pay for the following discs, and I feel terribly sorry for anybody who did:

Paleface-_Raw_. This was a guy whose hobby was to sing at coffee house open mic nights. One day he decided that he would record an album, which he did. Unfortunately, at the very last moment, most of the studio master tapes got erased somehow. Thus, most of the album consists of cassette recordings of his live performances. He almost sounds like some kind of Bob Dylan wannabe. Singing: C- Production/engineering: F Lyrics: D

Donna D'Angelo-_Naked_To_The_World_ This lady cannot sing, even though the songs are her own. I almost sound this bad when I do karaoke. Singing: D Production/engineering: B Lyrics B-

Sasha Gracanin-_Win_Or_Lose_ Some Austrian guys in their early 20s set out to record original American-sounding pop songs. The mixing and editing was done digitally on a computer in a home studio. Unfortunately, this happened in 1994, when hard disk space was not plentiful enough to allow everything to be saved in uncompressed audio formats. Therefore, all of the songs have a gritty sound that was typical of AIFC and similar compressed audio formats of the time. Gracanin did not have a solid understanding of American idioms, so many of his lyrics say goofy things, such as:
"And my eyes see nothing but you girl
So I'm not angry about you, they are boring, so
sad"
or:
"There are no rules they will keep
Keep me away to get nearer
To you"
I'll be a little bit generous on the lyrics scoring because I think that I would do a worse job if I were to try writing German songs. Singing: B Production/engineering: C Lyrics: C-

Ditto that on Air Supply, DT.

Mine is a Sheena Easton. The only thing that keeps it in my collection is the cover photo.

While I collect bad music, here are a few I bought at least semi-seriously:

The Best of Gilbert O'Sullivan (None were "Best," they were all bad.)
Toni Basil - Mickey (Does the fact I only paid a dollar for it make a difference?)
Linda Ronstadt - "Mad Love" (Linda goes New Wave!)

and last, but not least:
Stryper - "To Hell with the Devil."

Do I win the prize?

On second thought the prize is probably a Nancy Sinatra 10 CD box set. I think I'll pass.

Linda Ronstadt "Mad Love"
I was a big new wave fan (and still am) but this one is truly embarassing not only for her, but for anyone who paid full retail.

I've also:

Rick Springfield "Speak to the sky" (or whatever album that was on)
Chic "Le Freak" (Ditto)

While I never bought anything by the New Kids on the Block, I was talked into performing a lip synced "Step by Step" farce with a comedy troop live (at The Embers, no less). But I'd say Shane's still the winner.

The Cretones original version of the song "Mad Love" was enough of an embarrassment before Linda covered it.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I still like Chic.

For anyone other than a girl in the 9-15 age group to spend money on anything related to the New Kids on the Block is inexplicable. Having said that, the New Kids and everyone involved with that act laughed all the way to the bank because NKOTB was a major commercial force in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

A female classmate in junior high said it best about NKOTB: "Those guys suck their own dicks!"

Randy: Stryper - "To Hell with the Devil."

Randy, I don't know about the rest of the album, but the I like the title cut.

I don't have the album, just that one song. It came on a compilation CD.

Looking through my CD collection, I noticed that I still have a copy of Warrent's "cherry pie". I LOVE THAT CD, and I'm not afraid to admit it. It also contains the single "uncle Tom's Cabin"- LOVE IT!
