US missile hits crippled satellite

By Bryan Bender
Boston Globe Staff / February 21, 2008

HONOLULU - A US Navy cruiser based in Pearl Harbor fired a missile last night that struck a crippled spy satellite roughly 150 miles above the earth, in an attempt to prevent the out-of-control spacecraft from dumping hazardous fuel on a population center, the Pentagon said. . . ."

This is awesome that that they successfully shot it down.

Amongst other things it demonstrates to the world what our defense systems are capable of.

Here's a video of the shoot down.

http://www.foxnews.com/video2/player06.html?022008/022008_ff_huckabee&FOX_Friend s&Marching%20On&Marching%20On&FOX%20%26%20Friends&-1&Shows&139&&&exp

It only took 24 min. from missile launch to impact.

They said in one report I read that the combined impact speed was 22,000 mph. Impressive!

Nwokie, I think the proper way to state this: After all Clintons cutbacks, its a wonder the nave still ahd any cruisers. is: IN SPITE of all of Clinton's cutbacks......

Way to go Navy!

"They said in one report I read that the combined impact speed was 22,000 mph. Impressive!"

Satellite's in orbit must maintain a pretty high speed. The rocket was going about 5000 mph.

1 kilometer / second = 2 236.93629 mph

Yet, Clinton built an army that could liberate Kosovo, rid Afganistan of the Taliban, dispose Saddam Hussian and hit a bullseye on a moving target in space.

Now the Army Bush is leaving for the next President leaves a lot to be desired.

The main reason clinton was detested by the military, was in his first campaign, he made a statement, that said basicaly, anyone that voluntered to serve in Vietnam was an idiot. Nearly all the senior officers in the military and NCO's, volunteered to serve in Vietnam.

Approx 1/3 of all Vietnam vets were volunteers.

Nice support for the men and women who defend ALL of OUR freedoms.

Edit Add: Trixter, Sorry man. After a re-read of your post I realized that you were just repeating the statement from the original post and not stating your view of Vietnam Vets.

My apologies for misinterpreting it.

Lie.

Anytime Nwokie uses the word " Basically " that is code for " I remember something happened, I recall no details, but since I have thought about it so much, I have filled in all the blanks ( of which there are many ) with what feels like the truth. Even though I'm wrong almost every single time, I obviously have some kind of condition that prevents me from learning from any previous lessons that I have either brought on myself or have been shown to me directly."

It's a long code, I know. But how he can cite " common knowledge " along with gaping holes in his ability to prove anything ( and when he does, it'll be VERY far from how he paraphrased Clinton ) really deserves to be called out for utter bullshit.

He's flat out lying.

That's ok though. The one good thing about the way he does things around here is how, when shown how wrong he is, he pretends not to see anything further on the thread...until the subject shifts. Then he's back, hoping you all forgot about that previous unpleasantness.

It's Tom Hanks' Mr. Short-Term Memory guy from SNL.

Nwokie, you should try and work on those things. They are messing things up too much. Please stop it.

Ok, I can't prove it. How about Clintons statement that he "Loathed the military". that I can prove, that was in his letter to the Col that enlisteded him in the ROTC, which he then failed to show up for.

I have seen that one as well.

http://www.war-stories.com/clinton-poss-larry-1-1969.htm

quote:

"I am writing too in the hope that my telling this one story will help you to understand more clearly how so many fine people have come to find themselves still loving their country but loathing the military, to which you and other good men have devoted years, lifetimes, of the best service you could give. To many of us, it is no longer clear what is service and what is disservice, or if it is clear, the conclusion is likely to be illegal."
