Cuba will only be free when it's citizens decide to stand up and demand it. A change in leaders means nothing, especially since Raul is Fidel's brother and will likely continue leading in the same fashion as Fidel.

Jerry Falwell died and gays and lesbians are still targets of the religious right. Proper name would be religious militants.

Major bummer.

The youth isn't up for that, in the same numbers though. IMHO, it's highly likely we will see significant change in this, in our lives.

My teens are really showing this huge. Very few of their peers even have those kinds of things on their radar. Most all teens, at least in the scope of teens I know, all have friends who are GLBT.

Acceptance runs high, but for a smaller and vocal minority of young people.

The few conversations I've had boil down to "getting along" being an extremely high priority. The average young person sees a lot of tension these days. They are either acting out issues --and that's often violent, or working hard to just be kids.

It's escalated from what any of us experienced, and I believe that pressure is directly related to them pushing away non-issues.

Think he will finally cash the checks? The US sends Cuba a 5,0000 check every year for rent for Gitmo. Castro has never cashed any of them.
