Maybe EMF is doing something right... They have a stable of live, top-notch talent: Jon Rivers, David Pierce, Lisa Williams and more. They have promotions staff in local markets, and even a staff of pastors for their prayer lines. Great facilities and programming...and the funds to expand. While their fund-raising drives get tiresome to listen to, it seems to be working. Maybe that's what radio as a whole needs to do. Get away from an advertiser-based medium and into a listener-based medium. Adopt a "what are you willing to pay to keep listening to this station" financial model.

They have announcers with lovely, melodious voices. They would all be very professional voiceover people. Oh wait, I think they are. ;) The number one factor in EMF's "success story" is driving out the competition in local markets, many of whom have a hard enough time paying their staff, let alone pass up the relatively big buyout check from EMF.

It looks like you hit the semi-colon by mistake, which brought a tear to my eye. The funniest thing just happened: While I was holding down the shift key, a message came up, saying that I had locked up the computer by holding it down too long. The song playing in the background was "Linger" by The Cranberries!

....Author: Mfarnes Monday, February 18, 2008 - 9:37 am Maybe EMF is doing something right... They have a stable of live, top-notch talent: Jon Rivers, David Pierce, Lisa Williams and more..... So, where do they broadcast from? Just for the sake of the conversation, if they owned 207 stations and they all were contemporary christian, then that would mean that 1 is live and 206 are satellite-fed or voice tracked from out of market. If putting people in small markets out of work is doing it right, then yes, they're doing it right.
