-----------------Michael Savage Inks Extension With TRN-----------------

TALK RADIO NETWORK inks a contract extension with MICHAEL SAVAGE. TRN CEO MARK MASTERS said, "We are proud to extend MICHAEL SAVAGE's contract. MICHAEL is always challenging the audience and himself. I think this is the main reason he continues to be a ratings juggernaut, coast to coast."

The show airs nationwide on over 300 stations nationwide, including 43 on the FM dial.

Michael Savage is heard 3-6pm weekdays on KXL.

Well, we have a lot of "how to fix the broken radio" conversations, and we get this!

Maybe the medium is appropriate for the audience.

Savage is heard from 5-7pm on KYKN 1430 AM in Salem and the Mid-Valley.
One of the reasons that KYKN dominates the Salem Market! Go Savage Nation!!

Michael Weiner is an ugly American, and it highlights the sad state that radio is in that garbage like this actually leads to ratings.

Dodger, it's all garbage. Stern, Rhodes, Savage...all crap. This is what radio has been reduced to, peddling garbage on the airways. And even worse are the advertisers that advertise during these shows.

Years ago when I was actually listening to talk radio I came across Savage's show. At first I thought it was a spoof. I thought "no one in their right mind would say stuff like this guy."

Looks like I haven't missed a thing.

Dodger,

The new KYKN logo is nice and the billboard on Commercial looks pretty good, but your station website needs help. I went there on a snow day to find out school closure info... nothing! Maybe some news on a news station website would be a good addition.

I don't agree with many of Savage's views, but if I was programming a conservative talk station, I'd put him on if he was available.

radi0: you are absolutely right, and we are addressing the website RIGHT NOW as a matter of fact.
Had more pressing things to do first.
Thank you for the compliments.
I am on every morning with full closure info from 5:30 to 12 every weekday so during the recent storms, I was very busy. We also had two guys calling in with traffic and weather updates.
Working on a chopper next :-)
I love Savage. I realize he is radio drama. He may take himself seriously, or maybe not, but he is very entertaining and as for sponsors, they love him or hate him but they buy him!
He does get preempted most nights for sports though.

From Katy Bachman, Mediaweek

"Another five radio advertisers have joined a growing list of companies that have pulled their ads from Michael Savage's national radio show, "Savage Nation," syndicated by Talk Radio Network. The ads were pulled as a result of a coordinated campaign aimed at Savage's remarks against Muslims and other groups by organizations such as Hate Hurts America Community, and Interfaith Coalition, which made the announcement Friday (Feb. 8).

The five advertisers, ITT Technical Institute, Chattem, Inc. (Gold Bond, Icy Hot and Selsun Blue), Union Bank of California, Intuit (TurboTax and QuickBooks) and GEICO Insurance, dropped the spots after they were contacted by visitors to the Web site http://nosavage.org. The site has audio clips from Savage's radio show as well as printed excerpts. Other advertisers that have pulled spots include Citrix, US Cellular, Sprint Nextel, Sears, Universal Orlando Resorts, AutoZone, JCPenney, OfficeMax, Wal-Mart and AT&T.

Savage, who is the third-largest talk show personality in America, has been under attack since last fall for his comments, which were made available on the Internet by the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Savage responded by filing a lawsuit against the Council for violating his copyright. He's reportedly lost at least $1 million in revenue because of the advertiser boycott.

That is exactly what it is: it is drama, much like Phil Hendrie. I don't think he takes himself that seriously, given some of the unlikely twists that he occasionally takes. For instance, I've heard him rail on and on about the importance of religion in society but on another show, he'll state that he is not a very religious person. Or, he'll talk about declining morality and depraved celebrity buffoons on one show, then he'll talk about alcoholic drinks that he enjoys on another show. Or, he attacks Roberto Benigni on one show for promoting a general strike, and then on another show, he's interviewing a union leader.

Virtually everything on the radio is fake. It is all theater of the mind.

Yes well there has to be a place for everybody. Why not Michael Savage. What better forum to have an outlet for your Bipolar Mania. Maybe it works better than the Lithium does. And its a helluva lot more fun !

Read a personal history of this man and his mental problems of the past and present and you will understand my meaning.
