The music the Buzz plays is starting to sound EXACTLY like Charlie. I think its kind of odd that both stations are in the same cluster, yet their formats are starting to sound similar.

"mary Janes last dance" By Tom Petty????
"interstate Love song" By STP??
Peter Gabriel "in Your eyes" all on the Buzz today.

Makes it easy for a program director, just slightly adjust an alternate format on your selector program, put it on another transmitter, turn the lights out and go home to chicken alfredo, a fine New Zeland white wine, and to the comfort of hearth, spouse and family.

Life is a bowl of cherries.

I heard the best liner on Charlie this afternoon.
The "stoner" voice guy came on and said

"Honk your horn if you want to kick the sh!% out of Ryan Seacrest".

Good stuff. I have to hand it to Charlie, some of there liners are pretty damn funny. Its a good station but It could be SO much better if they would get more live air talent on the station. The random request hours with Charlie girl are awesome, but why not give her a full 4 hour air shift?

Are the hours for random requests or do the request hours come up, randomly?

I like the idea of request hours coming up randomly. What a great way to increase TSL!

k103 and their faux oldies-motown-mor station sound very ...very close! Not smart. They should go gold & kick k-hits ass . Bit that will never happen.

It seems unlikely that the #1 rated and top billing station in town will want to relinquish that role anytime soon!

I have to admit it is amazing how similar Charlie and The Buzz are sounding with the music. Im surprised 2 stations inside the same company are so similar, As far as Im concerned they are competing with each other.

Maybe they are setting up a reason to dump the lesser of the two. "105.1 The Fan," anyone? :-)

LOTS more 80's and 80's rock on Charlie..... Don't hear any KISS and Def Leppard on The Buzz.....

Yes they do Trixter! Just heard "POOR some sugar on me" on The Buzz last week and I have been hearing a LOT of 80's Aerosmith on the Buzz. Plus Im hearing Bush and Stone Temple Pilots on the BUZZ, artists Id expect to hear on KUFO not the Buzz. I've also noticed that the Buzz is playing very little of the Matchbox 20/Goo Goo Dolls CRAP and actually playing some REAL ROCK! I think its awesome BUT Im not a 30 year old woman, at least last time I checked I wasn't

I sort of like 98.3 The Peak for the AM drive. I usually don't listen to morning drive talk radio and this station has a great playlist with lots of eighties rock. This is a Longview station so you can most likely get it when you cross the river or if you have a directional antenna aimed north. Only 10 minutes of commercial breaks every hour so lot's of music. Check it out sometime.

quote:

The Music:

The Peak 98.3 is an adult hits variety format with heavy emphasis on music from the late 1970’s through the 1980’s with a mix of the 1990’s and current hits. From Abba to ZZ Top and everything in between, this format is sweeping the nation and reaching your customers!!

The Audience:

The Peak 98.3 targets 25 to 54 year olds with slightly more female listeners than men. Research shows the average Peak listener is a homeowner and more likely to make a major purchase or take a vacation within 6 months. The typical listener is from the middle to upper middle class spending demographic.

Programming Features:

The Peak 98.3 is a music intensive format. With fewer commercial interruptions than traditional radio programming, the Peak has a maximum of three breaks per hour, totaling just 10 minutes of commercial time. This results in increased attention to YOUR message, because listeners stay tuned through commercial breaks instead of “channel surfing”. With limited commercial inventory available, you receive maximum exposure and exclusivity!

The Buzz is a Hot AC, going back as far as the 80s on occasion. Those occasions are more often than they used to be. Charlie is Adult Hits playing music from the 70s through the present but they also dip back into the 60s and even 50s. Also, Charlie has no specific genre. They may play Country or an old Andy Williams song. I can certainly tell the difference between the 2 stations and look how old I am! :-)
