Is there a source somewhere that has a list of the Program Directors in Portland? (At least from the big groups)I'm bringing my production demo up this week from Eugene, and I don't want to be a complete tool and not have peoples names... thanks for anything.

Which brings up a pet-peeve of mine...why do most radio station websites not list the PD's name and his/her email address for comments and questions? Seems like simple public service to me.

It might be because they rarely stick around to even be listed.

Or the management is leary of posting what might become a merry-go-round of names. And the ultimate sin would be to have a P.D. up there that got axed or left and someone forgot to tell the web-master !

Most pd's stay in portland a while! I also don't understand why this info isn't listed!

Maybe the PD's are not so interested in their names being up there.

Take a good PD, known quality person, hobbled by silly management decisions. Who wants to get tagged with that?

Yeah maybe they have a brain and don't want to take various emails from the general public! Who would?

You're right! Considering the fact that the general public are the ones listening and supporting certain stations. If it wasn't for the general public these stations would go bye bye.

Come on Beano, let's publish YOUR email address so you can spend your afternoon chatting with whoever chooses to drop you a line, you wouldn't like it either!

Right?

Aaron,
My best advice would be to go to All Access, and search for each station in the "industry directory". The PD's name should be listed.

Thanks! I shoulda thought of All Access earlier, I'm only getting those newsletters every freakin' day! And if anybody knows about a lead for a production guy, send me a line. Hope I didn't just break the portland radio board protocols there... hmm...

RadioGiant, ,
Thanks for that. I am jobless actually. I was picked up by a video game company (Garage Games) to do video editing, and making video game trailers for their new project www.instantaction.com. However, after 6 months it turned out they didn't really need me as much as they thought, and boom... on the beach. No bad feelings, it just didn't work out like we thought. However that does put me out of a job at the moment. I'll be bringing my demo and resume to everybody to leave on their desk over the weekend when I come visit my brother and do actual hard labor for some under-the-table scratch.

No, nothing like that. I jumped at an opportunity that presented itself, then it didn't pan out.

It's easy enough to get the PD's name. Call the receptionist, ask for "the program director," and tell her you're selling something. You're guaranteed to get voicemail, then write down the name. Works every time.

Or, so I'm told...

Or just ask the receptionist, "Who is the PD of KXXX?"

They'll tell you. It's not a secret.

Mediabase.com lists that info for every station. If you don't subscribe, there is a way to google certain keywords and get around the log in page.
