I love it! All the great anecdotes that are shared as the songs come up are half the fun! That staff have all had such a great time in this biz, and the stories they share with us make for great radio, IMHO. |

The new Scorpions CD is soooo good, I can't believe its not getting more airplay. The whole album is full of singles, infact its one of those albums that you never skip over a song because the ENTIRE albumm is good!!! Its very seldom that a classic rock type band puts out great NEW material. I think their record company is doing a poor job promoting the album because I didn't even know they had a new album out( Heard it From Dark Temper). |

I think the band will do fine once they launch the US tour this year with Judas Priest. After all, the band themselves makes the majority of their money from touring and not from royalties from the record labels. IMHO, they don't need the promotion, they will sell out every venue they play in and quickly at that. Would be nice to hear it on the air though in normal rotation. JT.....did I tell you or what??? I feel the same way, no skipped songs on that CD, all the tracks are hit singles by themselves!!!!! |

As a regular listener I can confirm that the do indeed play classic Scorpions in normal rotation. Also the Scorpions are quite frequent on "Connect the Classics" at noon with Iris. It's just their new music that has slipped into limbo. |

So it a classic rock station still if they play new music? Sounds like a rock version of the automated station down the hall. |

Im surprised KGON and even KUFo are not giving the new Scorpions album the light of day. Ive been following the Scorpions for YEARS and I can honestly say, this is the best album they have ever put out! If radio ignores this album, than I have given up on radio! |

Don't quote me on this, but I'll bet you that Clear Channel has banned Classic rock stations from playing any new tracks from the Scorpions New CD, and Rush's new CD. |

Bottom line is that I like the new music from these groups and I will listen to it even though that means I am not listening to whatever XYZ station. This is great material from classic groups and I have a feeling that quite a few people feel that way. So pony up and keep your listeners happy with what they want to hear! |

I would say that compatible new material by Classic Rock artists generally qualifies as Classic Rock, providing it appeals to most of the target audience. That's where it gets tricky: Would a KGON listener, who isn't overly keen on the Scorpions, accept new material from them to the same degree as one might have accepted a new Stones or Who song 15 years earlier? |

OK, is it just me or is KGON playing a slightly improved mix that started right after the last AtoZ program? Seems like a little less of the tired top40 hits and a little wider selection. Maybe those are still there but are getting watered down with new material in rotation. Like I said it could be just me. Anyone else??? |

You are correct, DT. I think I may be the only person further "out on the bell curve" (as someone else put it) than you: KGON is on from 6AM - 10 PM, roughly, every day in my world. My customers and employees love it. |

You know why I think nobody is playing the new Rush and Scorpions tunes, the record labels are not promoting them in favor of these wanna be new artists like Daughtry, Tool, etc. etc. Best new rock album of the year going to an old school rock band may not promote these new young upstarts like they would like. Rush "Snakes and Arrows" and Scorpions "Humanity Hour 1" are easily tops in the Rock category. Now unless you pull a Wal-Mart exclusive and Hype a good but not great album like the Eagles did then I guess you don't get the airtime. Don't get me wrong I like the new Eagles CD but in comparison to thier previous works it just does not measure up like these new CD's from Rush and the Scorpion's. The Scorpion's new CD is easily their finest work to date. You can't replace the classics they put out but this new CD has evolved and adapted to current day with the biting lyrics, awesome guitar riff's and outstanding vocal's. |

The music business is just like the movie industry of today. Everyone has to have the same thing or close to it that everyone else has. If record company A has Simple Plan then record company B has to have Sum 41. If record company C has Cobie Caillat record company F has Sara Bareilles. It's endless!!!!! |

How does the new Eagles tune warrant airtime and Rush and Scorpions don't? Oh yah I forgot, a million dollar deal with Wal-Mart. What's the deal? This is great music in the best classic rock style, play it! If a few more classic rock groups came out with more great material like this I'm afraid my TSL would be dramatically less in favor of my MP3 player. If nobody will play it on air then people will just listen off air. |

You know, maybe in retrospect it's a good thing they do not play it. Let's face it, probably only one track would make the cut and that would be all you would hear. Like you said that Scorp's Album is one hit after another and when I get the urge to listen to it I go from start to finish. Here is a thought though. How about a mid-week special say from 5:00 to 6:00 and call it Wild Card Wednesdays. Anything is fair game so long as it is something not in rotation. New rock from established groups, maybe new album sides or rock blocks, B side classics that are locked up in the no-play vault, all XYZ artist hour, anything goes, DJ's choice. Maybe even a request form on the website for suggestions, no phones though. Insert Plug: "Wild Card Wednesday's, Brought to you by Chinook Winds Casino!" |

I saw an interview with The Scorpions, right when Humanity Hour 1 just came out, and they were saying that instead of writing the album themselves, they got some of the best song writers in the country to help them write some of their best material ever! And it shows, the album ROCKS!! They were also saying that even THEY are tired of hearing "rock you like a hurricane" on the radio, and are hoping that stations will start playing THEIR NEW MATERIAL. |
