It's finally coming out front and center: FOX news is a GOP mouthpiece. Not just the GOP in general, but the specific brand we are seeing struggle right now.

This Salon piece, originally published at Media Matters, is a FOX compilation that supports the mouthpiece idea very nicely:

http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2008/01/31/fox_news/

In particular, the snubbing of Ron Paul, highlights the very specific bias the network has.

To be clear, I'm ok with advocacy news, or news-tainment. That's just where we are, post fairness doctrine. Fixing things is a matter of limiting ownership, not mandating content.

I believe, given a sufficient diversity in ownership, people can pick and choose and be informed and entertained in a solid way. I'm posting this more in support of that idea, with the mess at FOX as prime example #1, more than anything else.

If you set aside the bias / agenda problems, the production team at FOX is top notch. Lots of interesting firsts there. They just missed out on the clarity class...

Oh, and check this out: Republicans hammering on Hannity, for his refusal to air Ron Paul related stuff:

"You suck Sean"

Yeah baby!

What? CNN (Communist News Network) is any better?

They both slant the "news" in their own direction.

Liberals don't like Fox.

Conservatives don't like CNN.

Same as any other issue. It's your own perspective on things. You can't beat on one without beating on the other also.

Last night, FOX TV 12 opened their newscast with Hannah Montana.

"We report, you decide."

I think FOX is for the dumbed down set.

I heard Mrs. Clinton appeared on Fox this week with Chris Wallace.

I don't hear any complaining about her making nice with conservatives.

The dumbed down still vote. Gotta get votes so she can to build enough of a cushion to overcome any GOP vote manipulation this fall. Nothing is harder to manipulate than a landslide.

Fox has this theory that if you say something often enough, people will believe it. Roger Ailes is obviously not very good at picking the winning horse.

Sometimes Fox beats itself silly. Here are just two of the finest moments in Fox journalism:

J-Lo gets a blowjob from her neighbors in the Bronx.

The top cock in Afghanistan is ambushed and killed.

I bet we can count on Fox for fair and balanced coverage of our up and coming erections too.

I nominate this topic for most obvious fact the rest of the country has known since day one.

So what if they are a mouthpiece of the republicans. Dont watch. Seems they are doing something right, they have you talking about them.

You want fair and balanced, listen to OPB.

Absolutely.

So, they just need to be honest about it. FOX does a lot of bitching about not being treated like a real news organization. Well, they are not one!

I don't watch FOX much at all. Love watching Bill O, hammer, or sometimes get hammered. Watch it for the same reasons I would watch other useless things --entertainment.

And the rest of the country didn't know this at first, and is less informed because of it. Running the "fair and balanced" slogan was an outright lie. Still is.

Unless, one thinks what they are doing is "fair" and brings "balance". That's a different proposition.

So, we can count on not citing FOX as any kind of real news authority right? Just a mouthpiece.

Yep, and for me, the same goes for ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC and CNN.

I have watched it, but I can only take about 5-10 min before I have to turn it off.

Although I do remember when his first show (I think it was called "Politically Incorrect" came on. It was pretty funny and I used to watch it from time to time.

Trixter, Yeah. I'd have to agree with you. None of the news outlets really report the "news".

It's all about ratings and advertising dollars.

The only way to get a true "fair and balanced" view is to take in several different sources and make your own decision.
