We've got the new years budget and we NEED to expand our production music and sound effects library. Any recommendations?

May I suggest: http://freeplaymusic.com/

One of my personal favourites. They have production music and sound effect libraries. Most of the content is in MPEG1-layer 3 form.

I don't actually use it for professional productions myself (tho I do know a couple people who do) but I believe you would need to refer to http://freeplaymusic.com/licensing/ and fill out a license before using their music at your radio station. But as far as I am aware, it is perfectly legal to download and listen to for your personal use (e.g. on your stereo or in the truck. ;o)

Be very careful with freeplay. They digitally watermark their cuts and use a monitoring service, so if you use them on air without a license, they'll know about it right away.

I use royalty free music by downloading off several web sites. I like the ease of demo-ing songs with a variety lengths and variations. I don't have a wasteland of CD Demo's anymore.

The Music Bakery has been one I have used many times.

Just my 2.5 cents worth
